After having mutiple problems with EMC9 I unistalled it and caused more problems (cd-rom and DVD drives quit working) Got that fixed and installed EMC9 again. Now I cannot open EMC9. The logo comes up on the screen then an error message says "could not complete last command because unkown error." I tried RoxAnn and the only thing I came up with there is the software may have to be activated. I am unable to do this because I cannot get the program open to get the 25 digit activation code. I can go to start-all progams and open the indivigual programs in EMC9 like disc copy and MyBackup. I have tried to use the repair option in  add/remove program 3 times to no avail. I have Windows XP home edition. Can anyone give me a clue.

Sounds like maybe the Home app is corrupted.I would have hoped that the repair would have fixed that but I guess not.
One more time uninstall EMC9.After that try running a registry cleaner.Once you finish that run Roxizap, you can get it here After running Roxizap run your registry cleaner once more.
Hopefully that will remove all traces of EMC9.If you have any other Roxio or Sonic apps on your machine you will have to reinstall them after running Roxizap.
Once you've done all that try reinstalling once more.If you still have trouble let us know.

angry.gif Thanks for the reply. I tried everything you suggested but ended up with the same results. I can use the different features if I open them from "All Programs." I copied a disc and that worked ok. I guess I can give Roxio a call and see if they know why it won't open.

Another thing could be have you installed IE7 or WMP11?Others have reported troubles after installing one or the other or both.If you have installed one of them you might try rolling back to the previous versions.

I tried installing WMP 11 but it would not install. But I did install IE7 and maybe that is the culprit. Will try to go back to 6 tommorrow. Thanks.

biggrin.gif Hurrah. I rolled back IE7 and WMP11 and now my Roxio works. I am not sure which one was the bad guy but I am a happy camper now. I did lose Outlook Express but that is no problem. Thank you for your help.

I think you can restore Outlook Express by right clicking on Start and going to properties, customize - there is a  tick box for 'Show on Start Menu' and you should be able to add OE there
