I have been using RecordNow primarily to just copy (backup) directories and files to DVDs.  I like V7 over V6 as it will copy the files across multiple DVDs and will accept long volume names.  Note that this mechanism for backup is attractive as I don't need RecordNow to restore the files.

Reading the description of V9, it appears that RecordNow is now intended to primarily be a utility for recording music.

Are there any recommendations on upgrading or moving to a different utility?

IMHO, since v7 is working for you and doing what you want it to, I don't think there is any advantage or reason to upgrade at this time.

Don't do it!!!  I upgraded from 7 to 9 and after a few days when trying to open 9 a message pops up saying Trial version expire.   I contacted support. They advised clean uninstall & reinstall but that didn't work.  They then sent me a patch & that didn't work.  The only advice they had left was to re-install my operating system.   mad.gif

So don't upgrade especially if your current version does what you want it to.  I only upgraded as I wanted to create bootable CDs.  Now trying to get a refund & am off to see how much Nero will be.

Cheers

DO NOT UPGRADE...I purchased RecordNow and have uninstalled/reinstalled 4 times and still get the message "trial version of this product has expired" Roxio techs can't help you they blame it on everthing but their program...There are other issues also...It will not let you do a custom install...I am getting a refund I HOPE.

I don't think the Roxio Techs have any excuse no other program I've ever installed is disabled by using Norton One Button Checkup.  On another thread I've posted the following:-
QUOTE
OK, time to issue a challenge to the Roxio Software guys and also to ask them why the heck they need us amateurs to sort out problems they've created by shoddy programming and poor testing?

On One Button Checkup I've disabled the following:-

Program Integrity Scan
Missing Program Files
“C:\Program Files\Roxio\Media Experience\CmDVDreg.exe” cannot access a necessary file “kcams.dll”

Windows Registry scan
Invalid ActivX/COM Entries
The key, “CLSID\{1D9F3BDE-42BF-A436-60C90662F053}\InprocServer32,” refers to a missing file, “TempVector.”

Invalid Application Paths
The key, “SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\VCU3DcheckApp.exe,” refers to an invalid application path, “C:\Program Files\Roxio\VideoCore 9\VCU3DcheckApp.exe.”

So Roxio Software Techies, the problem lies with one, some or all of those three items, frankly I've spent enough time finding that out and not getting paid for it, I'm not prepared to spend any more time trying to find out anything more.  Now I've done your job for you perhaps you could let me have a refund and keep the program.  There are plenty of people here, and elsewhere you're potentially in danger of losing money from.
Ball's in Roxio's court.  Don't upgrade until they've sorted out the problem they've caused.

Love, Light & Peace
