I tried to use the tag editor to retag my files (all mp3s).  I filled in all the information, and then clicked "done" and none of it was saved, even though I checked the box for "embed or replace tags inside the audio file".  Why will it not save my changes to the files?

When you selected "Audio Tag Editor" and then select the music file, did the data based find the correct tags? Do you have a check-mark that you checked or a question mark next to "use MusicID tags"

How do you know that the tags are not changed?

Remember you are editing the tags and not the music names. You can change the names to be consistent with the tags by going to the Home Application page and selecting 'Rename Audio files" There are some choices there about renaming.

I'm just using the Audio Tag Editor in the Easy Media Creator 9 package.  I used the Music ID thing, and I've tried doing it by hand.  Then when I open the files in Winamp, or in Windows explorer, both of which show the tags, the tag is the same as it was before.  Also, if I close the Tag Editor, then open it again, and look at the files I just tried to change the tags of, they are the same as they were before I edited them.

I've had the exact same experience as "circusware".

Could it be broken?

When using the Tag Editor, you MUST check the box "Embed or replace tags inside the audio file" and then click DONE.  Works fine for me.

I also have found that the 'Tag Editor' when started from the 'Home/Applications' menu, will not update the source files - even when 'Embed or replace tags inside the audio files' is checked.

However, when run from 'Rename Audio Files', or, Media Manager, the tags are updated!

Running from 'Rename Audio Files'... (preferred method)
1. Start 'Rename Audio Files'from the 'Home/Applications' menu.
2. When the 'Media Selector' appears, select the music files you want updated. (Do not select 'OK')
3. Select the 'Tag Editor' icon just right of the path name. It looks like a musical note.
4. Make sure 'Embed or replace...' is checked.
5. Click 'MusicID', then when complete, 'Done'. Your files will be updated.
The reason I don't add them to 'Rename Audio Files' is that you cannot remove them without exiting the program.

Running from 'Media Manager'...
1. Start Media Manager.
2. Select the music files you want updated.
3. Right click the files, and select 'Edit Audio Tags'. Follow same process outlined above for 'Tage Editor'.

The difficulty several people have had with tag editor with multiple files seems to relate to .mp3 files. I have had no problems with .wav files (I just select the files in windows Explorer, right click, click edit audio tags; with the embed...box checked, changes are remembered).

I can confirm that there do seem to be problems with .mp3 files but that Mike mm's method 1 works with .mp3 files.
