Creating Audio CD Problem Reset issue while searching in my music on HD

First of all, due to my complete lack of energy to rant about what I think about Roxio, I thought I would simply ask someone to help with my current problem.
I just upgraded from Easy Media 8 to Easy Media 9...why you ask? I couldn't get the downloaded patches to run because of errors. Why was I downloading patches? Because there were quirky little issues I was having throughout EMC8.
So, I was all excited, installed EMC9...went to my favorite program "Create Audio CD" and "hope I can explain this correctly"....when you search for music in the right window pane that you want to drag over to the project window, the list of music as I'm scrolling down resets while I'm scrolling and takes me back to the top of my list. If you watch the right window pane without scrolling, you can see that the right window pane blinks every 10-15 seconds or so. So, you can never get down your list far enough (I have over 30Gb of all my CD's on my HD) without it resetting the list and taking me back up to the top! This is very annoying and don't know what it could be! There will certainly be other issues to tend with, but this is my first problem (which only took 5 min to find)...LOL
Now the only way I can successfully locate a music file is to click on the "add music" button at the top and search the old fashioned traditional way....very annoying!
Any suggestions would be very much welcome!

Try going to Start,Programs,Roxio,Audio Music Disc Creator and creating your disc this way.If you have Media Manager enabled you may get the same thing if you don't wait a few after you boot your machine for MM to do it's search.
If this continues to be a problem just go into msconfig and uncheck RoxWatchTray. This should stop MM from running in the tray and cataloging your media files. You'll still be able to add tracks to Music Disc Creator just not from the Smart Views tab.
I think MDC is a better way to go anyways because you have more control over the options for the project.
Another thing to try would be to go to the MM icon in the tray, right clicking and hitting "Stop Watching Folders".

Anyway - I'd recommend you turn off MediaWatch - that is trying to catalogue all your media and as you change CDs, it tries to catalogue those (apart from which it's a resource hog)
Go to start, run, type in msconfig and on the startup tab, uncheck the tick box for RoxWatchTray9, save, reboot and tell the nag screen to go away and don't come back
Let us know how that works

Well, unfortunately things are not good at all. To begin, yes turning Media watch off is something I can do, but I'm confused why would I start disabling features of a software? Secondly, I thought I would just go ahead and make the audio CD by the methold suggested in the beginning of this thread by opening up "Music Disc Creator" from my start menu rather than using the Easy Media icon. Well, everything looked good until I started to drag music from my drive unto the project. A couple things are happening: First, I use to be able to preview the song within this feature. Now, I can preview it alright, but then if I immediately drag the song over after I've previewed it, I get the kiss of death screen that says windows has incurred an error with Roxio and must shut down. So, then I thought I better not preview music in this mode, but then it crashed again anyways. The program crashes after about the 3rd or 4th track is dropped onto the page.......grrrrr....
I'm not impressed in the slightest bit. I haven't even made it to the label creator to see what sort of problems I'm going to have there. Tell me something if someone knows...in general....what kind of conflicts can wreck such havock with one software? And what's really confusing is, if Roxio is aware of such major issues, why would they release broken software? Do they really not care what kind of product they produce, or are they really flying blind on these issues and their software engineers are not aware of all these issues?
I am an Engineer myself (of the mechanical kind) and my job simply does not allow for "ANY" errors! If I make errors of the slightest kind, it only undermindes my company and their product.
Of course your comments and suggestions are sincerely welcome here. I always appreciate folks who bring constructive ideas to the table.
I noticed nowhere in the software installation did it advise I need to uninstall Roxio 8....so of course I think I am going to have to erase anything from my system that is Roxio related and clean the drive with my CC Cleaner and then start again. This is the only way I'll be sure I don't have a conflict with an EMC 8 file.
Thanks everybody,

Actually I disabled media Watch - all my media is on my RAID and I know exactly where it is and what I don't want is a program that wants to catalogue it and really slow thiongs down forever and a day, so I dsaibled it

Thanks everybody,
The best thing to do is unistall V8 before installing V9.For some reason the two don't like to play too nice together on the same machine. It may be because they're too much alike,I don't know.
Try that and let us know if it solves the problem. When I installed 9 with 8 already there it asked to remove previous versions of some of the apps.

Well, I uninstalled EMC8 and cleaned the HD of any dwarf and lost files afterwards and made a clean install of EMC9 and so far so good! I have not used all the functions of the program, but the Audio Disc Creator worked well and the label maker performed to my expectations as well.
My first real project that I need to make is a I need to make a photo slide show set to lyrics and music and then made viewable on a PC or a DVD player.. I have no idea how I am going to creat this, but I'll have browse around the program and see what what I may need to use to accomplish this.
Thanks for everyones help, it's much appreciated.
