Yes, they should. And now that you mention it, they did in a previous production done shortly after I received the program. Any idea why mp3 files would stop working in Videowave. Experimentally I tried other mp3 tracks also, but none of them produced any sound on previewing the production.

Video Wave seems to be a bit picky when it comes to mp3 files -- number of bits and bit rate, HiMAT compliant or not, etc. You did the right thing by using Sound Editor to convert them to a wav file.
