I'm a beginner with DVD burners and EMC 8. I wanted to get EMC 8 and a DVD burner, but before I do I wanted to know how the whole Tivo thing works. Could anyone explain how you get the recorded program to your computer and what you need to do it?

Type in Tivo in the search box, and you will get lots of hits.

Tivo files have DRM  digital restrictions management   DRM systems content publishers claim DRM technologies are necessary to prevent revenue loss due to illegal duplication of their copyrighted works.

I would go here and do some home work, there are legal issues as to your question. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/

I upgraded to the version 8 just so that I could burn TiVo DVD's.  I haven't tried it yet, but I believe that your TiVo must be networked to your computer.  There is an option to transfer any programs on the recorder to  your hard drive in the desktop software that you download from TiVo.
