I installed Roxio Creator MyDVD Combo LE that came with our Dell computer and I burned a DVD. I can play the movie file on the computer but cannot get it to play on my DVD player. I did a data-to-disk and finalized it. Am I missing a step?

Yup. You used the wrong part of the program, unless your set top player can play ordinary video files. A dvd video disc has to comform to a certain folder/file structure for set top players to play them. You need to use the MyDVD program to create a video project with a menu and add your video file to it as a movie (aka title). Then burn the MyDVD project to the disc.
