Hello all,

I have attempted to find an existing answer to the question on this forum, however, using the search tool I am presented with 0 results (even though google can actually link to a page from this site). So, please forgive me if this annoying situation has arisen a million times before.

When I attempt to burn a DVD using my LiteOn DVDRW SHW-1635S (using SmartBurn as the speed - as no others are available) I obtain the following error from the Roxio disc creator:

e80070057. The parameter is incorrect.

FYI: I have applied the latest firmware to the DVD drive, the latest driver is via Windows XP (which is up-to-date), and I have applied the latest patch from Roxio for the version 6.X that I am using. The DVDs I use are TDK DVD+R (Single Sided DVD + Recordabke (DATA/Video) 4.7 GB 1-8x).

Is anyone able to offer any assistance into why this problem is occuring and, maybe, how to resolve the issue?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Craig. :)

Can you burn CDs OK?

Looking at the drive in Device Manager, do any errors show up? In none, try deleting the drive there and rebooting.
Dell 8300 3.0ghz 1.5gb RAM 300gb & 200gb HDs
XP Pro/SP2
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 w/AGP8X

I'm having the same problem.  I was using Memorex 8x DVD-R.  I just ordered what I thought to be 8x and I received 16x DVD-R.  I too updated the firmware, software, blah blah.  Didn't help.  I don't know if that helps but it's something.

Disc Creation Errors.  E80070057 -- The parameter is incorrect.

I just now started getting this message whenever I try to burn a dvd disk.  I suspect the problem is w/ the new blank dvd disks, since they're now being used for tv recording via dvd player-recorders.  When I popped in a blank dvd disk in my pc to burn a movie, I got some pop-up about a "file directory."  I then popped in an old blank dvd, did not get any pop-up, and it worked fine.  I believe the problem is w/ the new dvd disks.

Unless an Uber-Techie knows of a way around this w/o going through several songs and dances, I suspect the only solution is to pay for an upgrade or switch to a different software other than Roxio.

Any easy solution help from an Uber-Tech would be greatly appreciated!!!

I found a couple of things on the web.1 said it could be caused by not selecting a write speed, which it seems has been done. The other was if you are copying mp3 files that the bitrate of the files could be below 128k.Try running test only instead of burn and it may identify if it's a certain file or files causing the problem.

There aren't many "Ueber-Techs" among those of us who volunteer here, either.  This is a peer-to-peer Forum, not a means of checking with Roxio.

If YOUR problem is with new discs (which is not what the others are having a problem with), it is time to update the firmware for your drive.  CAUTION: if you don't know what you are doing, get help, instead of risking frying the drive.
