Maybe I'll have to reinstall 7.5 . Hope this can be done.
Any idea if Roxio is planning on fixing this soon?
Anyone know of a work around?

Assuming you're in MyDVD...
a. Right click on the title and choose EDIT MOVIE
b. Now in the storyboard at the bottom, click on one of the boxes which has your video or photo you want (1)
c. Now adjust the settings you want (2)
d. If you want to edit the speed, double click on the movie as it appears in the storyboard (1) and use the slider at the bottom of the video trimmer.

Yes, these controls (in Videowave and MyDVD) work fine on both of my machines listed below.
---------
System 2: HP DV7 laptop, Turion II Dual Core 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB hard drive, ATI Mobility HD4650, ATI HiDef Audio, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Yep, just finished a rather large project with some dark video I brightened up.
If it's not accepting that setting, download and install an updated driver for your video card and that should fix things up... let us know.

That card does support it and should be working fine. It's the same as I have. Only difference is that I haven't updated to the 81.68 driver yet. Still using the 77.?? one.

One possible reason for my troubles is that I reinstalled WindowsXP Service Pack 2 after installing EMC8 --I was having problems with Movie Maker 2.1 That fixed Movie Maker but may have compromisd EMC. I don't know if I was having problems with EMC before I reinstalled SP2.
Does anyone have experience with this?

I still occassionally use WMM2 for titling. Just 'save to this computer' using DV AVI and you won't have any trouble using the files in any other editor.
I have the Forceware release 80, v 81.98 (Dec 21 2005).

Don't do that yet... are you available during the day on Friday? Send me a PM with your name and phone number and a link to this thread...
Just for arguments sake, can you download and install/reinstall the driver:

That sounds like a good offer. Thanks. I'm on the east coast and I'm guessing you are in the west, so I will PM you when I get home from work (that's where my program is running from). It should be mid afternoon for you.
I have done the following:
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled NVidia 81.98
2. Uninstalled EMC8
3. Reinstalled EMC 7 and 7.5
4. Reinstalled EMC 8, leaving EMC 7.5 because I like some of its features that EMC 8 doesn't have.
These changes have given me the ability to zoom and pan - which is great!
However, I still cannot change the brightness of the clips.
Another thing that has always happened in EMC8: when the program first loads, the preview screen flickers violently for a second or two before settling down - don't know if that means anything.
Incidently, to help me troubleshoot, I installed EMC8 on my daughter's new Dell1100 (absolute bottom of the line - integrated graphics, etc.). I have complete functionality of EMC8.

I had the upgraded version on my last install. This time I stuck to Build 800B85C ENU - I wanted to retain the ability to edit Menu Items with CTRL-R.
I can upgrade if you like.
Just noticed something strange. Pan & Zoom works fine UNTIL I try to adjust the brightness. After I try to adjust brightness the effects of panning and zooming have no effect until about 10 seconds into the clip. That seems very bizarre, but shows that the Brightness and the Zooming problems are related.

I was able to do a little bit of testing over the weekend myself using the same card. What I have found so far is that when set to "Hardware" mode is when the problem occurs. Try switching to "Software" mode. That seemed to work for me for now until they can look at it some more.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
What a simple solution to my problems. Obviously my video card is not completely compatible with Roxio, under Hardware mode. Switching to "Software Mode" cured all my problems. Hopefully others having this problem will read this post.
In the Video Wave program, Select "Tools", then "Options". Select Render Using "Software Mode". Problem fixed.
Thanks to everyone who helped with this problem. I am so happy.

I'm not jumping up and down for joy....in software mode you lose all of the 3-D transitions. This kind of bums me out - I realize my video card isn't cutting edge, but I'm pretty sure it's fully DirectX compatible. I haven't had any problems with the 3D transitions working ok...just the brighness and contrast.
Has anyone actually rendered out a clip to see if it's just the display that doesn't reflect the changes? I'm going to adjust a dark one tonight and then render it and see what I get. It sucks that I can use all the 3-D stuff with my graphics card but might have to disable it just to get the brightness and contrast adjustments to work.
Regards,
Gary
