have a avi file that is 2 gigs.  get the above message with media creator 8.  reinstalled my cd creator 6 and it worked.  if i get the file smaller and smaller it keeps giving the same error.  had the dao.msi problem but uninstalled that through control panel and that error is gone but i hope that isnt needed in order to burn a cd.  i am trying to put files from ati pro wonder tv onto dvd but most are too large.  any help would be appreciated.  also it sucks that roxio gives no free help to people who invest in their software.

chiefmsb, your chances of getting help will be increased if you describe which EMC8 applications you are using. Create DVD? Quick DVD, maybe?

Have you sufficient space on your hard drive to store the proxy files?

If you are running Windows, I believe the default is under C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Application Data\Roxio\VideoUI\Proxy. In Create DVD, under the Tools | Options... menu you can find this info.

If you do have enough space then you may want to defrag your drive. I found out the hard way that EMC8 will have problems writing to a fragmented drive.

Hope this helps.
