Pretty hard from the little discription you are giving as to what the problem might be. So if you can give a little more information regarding the Sonic programs you are running and some information about your computer software and hardware, it would surely help.
Usually to remove any installed program on your computer, go to START--CONTROL PANEL--ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, and after the screen shows all of the programs, cursor down to the program you want to remove (alphebetical order) and click on it and you should see an option to remove on the right side.

If you have more than one Packet-Writing program, such as Sonic's DLA and Roxio's Drag2Disc, they will fight for control of hte burner.
It would be better to uninstall them both.
If you have made the MISTAKE of formatting discs for Packet-Writing, first copy the data off onto CD-Rs using a Sessions-based program like Roxio's Classic Creator or WinXP's built-in burning, before getting rid of the Packet-Writing programs.
If you want to KEEP the data, NEVER format the disc.
