Every time I log onto Windows Vista I receive an error message about a driver called Sonic Solutions DLA, I cannot get rid of it. I have tried various suggestions ie un-install hot fix KB929427 but does not solve it. Any one got any ideas, I'm running Roxio 9?

This info is all over the forum.  There's a fix from Dell for Dell systems and suggestions to remove Drag to Disc from me and others as well as a sticky post on the subject but it would require one to do just a bit of work first.
You now owe me one virtual beer!

I went to Best Buy and even their geeks couldn't stop the error message.  I uninstalled the Drag to Disk and it totally cured it.  The message is gone but Easy Media works just fine without the Drag to Disk.  FINALLY!

Had the same problem, when Vista had an update.
I had to remove KB929427 and that worked fine.
The last update for Vista I had to remove KB932246.
And all works fine.
Do this at your own peril.

Your support article, 000131CR, explains that 'due to a clerical error' we need to uninstall a Windows update, KB929427, to get rid of the annoying Driver Blocked message in Windows Vista.

OK, so doing that works and the message disappears.

However, since the Microsoft update update was to resolve other compatibility issues, eg Adobe Creative Suite CS2, Outlook 2003, Encarta, plus 80 other applications/suites, this is not ideal and merely sweeps the issue under the rug.

The problem gets worse, because now Microsoft has released update KB932246 which contains new compatibility fixes for 8 other applications and is also roll up of the previous one, KB929427 (see above).

So the solution, I guess, is to not install that one either!

We can't be ignoring all future recommended updates from Microsoft as these do actually address other compatibility issues with Vista.

When will the 'clerical error' mentioned in your support article 000131CR be fixed and published to Microsoft?

The issue, if you search the support articles, is due to a 'Clerical Error'. So Roxio, why not clerically unerror it ?

Having to either ignore compatibility updates or to remove the drag to disk feature (which is included as part of the purchase price of EMC9 isn't it ?) is a 'workaround' and not the permanent answer!

Because Roxio doesn't write Microsoft's updates?

Because, if you had read it correctly, Microsoft made the clerical error not Roxio, so Microsoft needs to fix it.

Roxio and also Sonic Record Now are owned under the same parent company.  None of their products are fully Vista compatible.  The latest versions might work somewhat but they do not fall into being fully compatible.  And forget the older products.  I have over 3000 computers to deal with daily and I am in the process of transferring them all over to Vista.  They have various CD burners on the with CD Creator ver 6 - 9 but only the basic version included with an OEM install.  None of these programs are usable with Vista and two months after the release of Vista is anything being done to publish Vista patches.  So I bought Version 9 which was originally advertises as Vista compatible but since Vista has not been released there is no support for Vista.  I had a RTM version for Vista for business when this advertisement was posted.  Now two months after the retail release Roxio can still stand behind the original advertisement "There is no support for Vista"

This past weekend I looked at CD burners and Computers to see what software they were using.  Every one had Nero 7.  This tells me that Roxio and Sonic Record Now do not want to continue producing any more products for CD burning applications.   And as far as the older versions, you might forget them and buy Nero or use the CD Burning features in Windows XP and Vista.  

Roxio has been my choice for burning software ever since I started to use CD Burners, but I am looking into other options.

Man, that's a scary thought!  With almost 90% of the IT guys around the country stating they aren't changing anytime soon, to think someone would put all their eggs in one basket is scary.  But, if that's what you do for a living, he won't have to worry about losing his job I guess.  He'll be very busy for a long time.

When your own countrys transport group puts a embargo on using vist (big news there in the USA) id think this guy dosnt know what he is doing or he is a few beers short of a six pack??

Even our Importers, who bring in the OEM and OLP packs of vista are saying not to look at it (in a busness prospect) for at least 6 to 8 months as there is so much non application compadability???

And also if he wants to run EMC on 3000 pc's? ... sounds like a one copy on all sort of site, we should do a tracerout and report is address to Microsoft to see what else he is doing?

I agree with the others, that's an awful brave jump to move to a brand new OS on that large a scale. There's plenty of problems with Vista at the moment.

Also, the DLA driver problem was not caused by Roxio/Sonic, Microsoft screwed it up by a "clerical error" in one of there updates released the same day as the Public release. I would be looking to MS to fix that problem. That one issue aside, there are many that have had success running EMC 9 on Vista.

This is my first post here, and most likely my last. I was going to ask for some help with the same problem that these guys are having, just a driver incompatibility issue that is not a Vista issue, but a Roxio driver issue. It is obvious that the driver does not fully work with Vista. This makes it a Roxio driver issue.

My hope was to find some support here, but from what I have read so far forum where people who ask how to resolve their problems are flamed for even having the audacity to ask such a question. The guy was only asking for advice, not a consortium of nerds coming down on him for his decisions.

I'll keep an eye on the updates section or search forums for updates.

The DLA issue is NOT a Roxio one, it's a MICROSOFT one. They messed up the whole thing with a zero day patch to Vista. Up until then everything worked fine, Vista got released, MS 'patched' it and immediately the DLA error came up.

At the moment, Roxio and MS are working on a fix. They are also working to get the entire suite registered as Vista compatible and there will be a patch released once that happens. The decision was taken not to issue a patch, followed by another, followed by yet another until the entire thing was ready to go.

In the meantime, remove Drag to Disc, using the control panel and that will cure the notice regarding the driver

I think Roxio's suggestion to delete a Windows update is very unprofessional.  They should issue a patch, not try to change someone else's software.  I tried to do their Dell work-around , and that just deactivated drag-to-disc.  How long has this issue been around?

I have a very positive view of the EMC software, but Roxio is being very unprofessional in trying to pass the buck.  It's been several months and the software is still not certified compatible with Vista???

Vista was released to the public on Januaray 30, I believe.  Microsoft and Roxio are working together to overcome the problems caused by the bug that Microsoft put into Vista, just before, or after, it was released to the public.

Hopefully, Roxio's patch will come out next month, but I certainly hope it fixes more than Vista problems.  I don't have Vista on my computers.

I an on Windows 7 and I am getting the same thing posted here for Vista. About the driver for Sonic Solutions DLA.Does anyone know a work around for this issue? Dosent anyone at ROXIO read these post and have a fix for this issue?
