Hello, I would appreciate any help offered.
Simple, probably for others, but I just installed EMC9 (I am used to working with much smaller burner progs.)
I figured out what Roxio’s UPnP Renderer 9, RoxSniffer9, RoxLiveShare9, even stllssvr are, what their function is, and why they kept showing up in my event viewer. But the last one is "AlbumCore9"...
If anyone knows anything about that entry, anything at all, please tell me. I like to know what is running
on my machine, especially when new services are installed. I have not found an entry in "services" for
AlbumCore9 (I can’t find it if it is there)
While I am at it does anyone know the correct settings for the multiple ROXIO services settings
I.E. Manual, Automatic, Disabled..??
1). LiveShare P2P Server 9
2). Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 9
3). Roxio UPnP Renderer 9
4). RoxMediaDB9 (automatic)!
Currently I have RoxMediaDB9 on "Automatic", because it is a necessity. The other I have shut down by manual or disabled, as of right now all I want to do is burn data files.
When the need arises I will allow others to function when I need them AND fully understand them. Usually I wouldn’t fool with a newly installed program settings unless I get errors which was/ is the case with these entries. this program installed way too many companion programs for me to keep up with. (My fault, I should have been more aware and selective in program installations from the start)
Lemme stop here before I get even more long winded!..
Thank you again for any help anyone can offer as to what "AlbumCore9" is.

I had a look at the .xml scripting and it seems to be linked to media browser and has toolbars and radio buttons.
At a guess it's to read info from any albums of media you may have

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I don't use media manager, liveshare, UPnP etc. In that situation I have put all 5 Roxio services (including RoxMediaDB9) to manual and removed roxwatchtray and drag to disc from the startups.
RoxMediaDB9 starts OK when I open an EMC 9 module. If started during a session it remains running until reboot even if all EMC 9 apps are closed. I think that the other services, set to manual, would also be started when called upon, although I haven't checked that. There is little to gain by disabling rather than manual.
If you do use media manager, then you are probably right to keep it on automatic.
I can find no reference to 'AlbumCore9'. I do find entries in the registry to AlbumCore (without the 9), as well as the file (again without a 9 in the name) mentioned by gi7omy, but nothing that I could interpret definitively beyond what he suggests.
What are the error event logs you get related to it?

Thank You sooo much!
some small irritants like that push me till I can figure it out, or I fall asleep at the keyboard.
Luckily thats never happened when I work on cars,,<insert grin/>
Although I do have many keyboard scars on my forehead!!
Seriously gi7omy, I really do appreciate all the effort and time to look into what may seem like a small matter to some.
But to me, it means a lot!
thank You again

Thank you also for your interest, Jean Rosenfeld. I forgot how great these boards can be, it's been many years since I was a moderator. Sadly I feel old because I also forgot the” in and outs” of proper posting luckily I was able to reply correctly to gi7omy (I think?) Anyway, that’s enough reminiscing of the people I knew, though it is still a nice feeling to see that good hearted helpful people are either sculpted or older inveterate iconoclasts much like myself.
Jean, I don’t use media manager, I may in the future, but I just installed this colossal program and was bombarded with many EventViewer(application)Errors. ZoneAlarm also added in its two bits and visually threatened to shut my DSL connect after I disabled and rebooted. One more reason for my consternation concerning the applications intended functions. Once I set the application to: Automatic all was well with ZoneAlarm, as it then allowed ROXIO’s component free reign to run recklessly as far as I knew unfettered about the internet. Without the proper.dll files I couldn’t retrieve the actual error messages…I will place a few relevant log entry’s as you stated so you can see past my fumbling verbiage.

As you can see the "9" is at the end of every source, except for "IDriverT" which I threw in just for a change of pace, and it deserved somemerit as it made my life .."interesting " for awhile. trying to understand and finally comprehending was some satisfaction. <smile/>

I may be dense, but can you share what they are and what they do and how to disable?
I started another thread (Vista) about my PC locking up when some commercial audio CDs are inserted, CDs which work fine with EMC9 under XP but not under Vista, CDs which work fine with Media Player. A reply there pointed me to the event logs, and googling for some of the tool names led me to your post. But I'm still in the dark about how to work around the problem.
Thanks in advance! Hope I'm not asking stoopid questions.
Steve
