Just installed this software on a new computer: Dual processor, 2 gig ram. Want to copy DVD files that are on my hard drive to a disc. Thought I would use the copy DVD movies option.
When I insert my media it tells me that it is a blank DVD-R disc. However, when I try to burn the files it does nothing for a few minutes then spits the disc out with an error message about the media.
I then take another disk out of the same package and use the data disk option and the thing burns just fine. There appears to be something wrong with copy part of the program (although I haven't tried to copy any other type of files - I'm tired of throwing away discs. I even have two different types of burners in my computer and the same thing happens with each one of them
Any suggestions? I hate to pay for something that has issues.

Have you checked to see if your firmware is up to date?

The same burners recognize the same media when using a different part of Roxio. So, no I don't know if my firmware is up to date, but these burners seem to burn these discs in every part of the program except this one. But that's OK, I've been trying out other parts of the program and I am about to post yet again another topic.

Look at your first post. You say that one disc does not burn, yet you take another out of the spindle, and it burns fine. That isn't the software causing the problem. That is your burner and whatever media you are using.
As Paul said, update the firmware for your DVD burner.
What brand and type of media are you using? What DVD burner do you have?

I'm not making myself clear and I'm sorry for the confusion.
I can not burn a disc with the "Copy DVD Movies" part of Roxio.
I have no problem burning these same discs with the "Make a Data Disc" part of Roxio.
Same burner, same media, different segments of the program.
I'm using Verbatim DVD-R discs and a brand new HP LightScribe DVD SuperMulti Drive. I've successfully burned dozens of DVD's on this brand of disc with many different burners. The only difference I can see is "Copy DVD Movies".

What movie are you trying to burn? If it is a commercial movie, it isn't going to happen with this software, because it is illegal to do so.

There are multiple ways to burn them. Sounds like you are using the copy funtion in the Home app. Instead, try Disc Copier. Start it by going to Start > Programs > Roxio > Copy > Disc Copier

Actually I am using the data disc options since what you suggest is what has now made at least three coasters. Trouble is, they aren't very absorbant.

Nope. Home video I created myself. Nothing illegal here.
