Please can someone help before I go insane! Basic 7 came with new computer - upgraded to emc8 (waste of time) now have emc9. Making a videowave prod is relatively problem free. Occasionally if I've trimmed audio or video when i press "done" the preview screen goes black and am not able to press play but have found a way around it. My biggest nightmare is being unable to burn. Have been able to burn productions (eventually) in the past but not anymore and can still burn audio cds fine Some times it all starts fine and then stops at a various point, the next it won't start at all. Getting lots of "error while encoding menu" messages. Also error codes: 80040207, 800452c, 80045028. Anyone have any idea? Have attempted and failed to update firmware ( sony FYS2)(sony MYR3) and video card (nvivia GeForce 7800 GT). Have tried re-installing with norton disabled etc and get a little further than the last time. Am going mad! Please help before i resort to that old favourite.......throwing the computer out of the window

Are you burning direct to disc? If so, try burning to an image file only and see if you can get it to complete. Make sure you have the latest directx and of course, defrag your hard drive regularly.

If you run XP's Help and Support and type in 'defrag', it'll show you how! blink.gif

Hooray! Hoorah! and other words to signify deep joy! Whilst defraging and after taking your advice and getting latest directx i looked on other threads and found some more useful advice. My project has now burned to disk not once but three times so far!!!! I opened roxio on start menu - roxio-mydvd-tools-software render and then it worked! Maybe it didn't like doing it through hardware????? Anyway, now having a drink to celebrate and thank you for taking the time to reply.

Just one more little thing. About six months ago (when it was working properly) I burned about 8 copies of a project and promptly blew out the power supply. The Evesham man came and fixed it and apparently this can happen when burning lots. How long should I leave between burning copies? The current project is 11 mins long but taking approx 27 mins to burn. Any advice would as always be welcomed!

If it's using the Software setting for rendering that means that either your video card/adapter does not support all of the Directx9 functions or that you need to update the drivers for the video card. Try updating them.

I was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours this morning with evesham tech support and we downloaded a newer nvidia drive. I had Ge Force 7800 GT and upgraded to Ge Force and TNT 2. Should I have got something else?

Wait a minute!!!!!!! Who the hell told you that a zillion year old TNT 2 was an upgrade to that GeForce 7800 GT? Shoot the SOB, because it is a HUGE downgrade!

Your 7800GT is high end, and it should work in hardware rendering, if the newest NVidia drivers are installed.

If you're talking about the drivers on Nvidia's site, that you navigate to thru the "Geforce and TNT2" selections, then yes you should have gotten the right ones. Provided you selected the correct Operating System (I don't see where you noted what you have) also. Did you follow their directions on installing the drivers? You have to completely uninstall the one you had loaded, let the pc boot and use the ugly generic video drivers, then install the new one.

LOL! I mistakenly took your post to your supposedly upgrading to a TNT 2 card. You did right, updating the drivers for your 7800 GT.

As long as you've got it working for you and you're happy with it, no it doesn't matter smile.gif It wasn't very clear from your post about the newer driver and that tech that it was all working ok for you. Have fun.
