Hi since installing cine I am unable to play a dvd in windows media 11 or triDef dvd player.

I get this message from tidef.

This DVD can not be played because the InterVideo MPEG2 decoding filters could not be found, or are not installed correctly.

and windows media just say it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

I installed an mpeg2 decoder but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

After you've installer Cineplayer other applications fail to play DVDs?

This probably has to do with codec precedence. Cineplayer's decoder was put to the top of the list and so these other applications are trying, unsuccessfully, to use Cineplayer's decoder. You can change the precedence manually with a program called Filter Manager.

Get Filter Manager:

Be sure to read how to use it before changing stuff, you could really mess stuff up. You just want to lower Cineplayer's precedence so that it won't conflict with other apps. The Cineplayer application will seak out its own decoder so it doesn't need precedence.

Hi thanks for the input I downloaded the manager tool and set the cine decoder down from normal to unlikely but the problem still exist.

I am at a loss of how to fix this. Did I do this right? it was the only thing I altered.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

If Cineplayer is uninstalled, do the other programs work? Perhaps just by simply reinstalling, the issue may resolve itself.

Hi Kevin I tried that when cineplayer is uninstalled I get the error message that my computer does not have a compatible decoder.

When installed the windows 11 media player just says it has to shut down due to an error.

Maybe I need to down load a decoder?? if so wich one and where from?? are you able to help?

Thanks very much for taking the time to assist me.

Cheers

Rod

If you have the Cineplayer application, then if Cineplayer is installed you should be able to play DVDs from within Cineplayer. It's not said that you will be able to use that decoder in Windows Media Player as well.

However, if you would like to play DVDs in Windows Media Player and not Cineplayer, then you will need a decoder to do that. What we've been trying to do is get your other program to provide that DVD decoder since I presume it worked before. I assume that this other play does not support Windows Media Player 11 and that is where all this trouble is coming from.

Sonic does offer a DVD decoder that will work in Windows Media player but it will not fix your other DVD player. http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/cineplay...r/overview.html
