My Machine is: A generic (Soyo Motherboard) 2.5 Ghz P4 with 750 MB of memory and 80 GB of hard drive space. I'm running XP home version.
I bought the Deluxe Suite to upgrade the Version 7 that I had been using. I downloaded the large file and begin the installation. That's when the problems started. The installation gets about 10 minutes into the install and then REBOOT's my machine. I've now tried to install 5 times changing verious things and the same thing has happened. The last thing I can see above the install bar says " Installing New Services" and then the machine goes black like you pushed the reset button. When it boots backup I get a message that says " C:\Program Files\Roxio\...\...\... Roxwatch9.exe --- Application has requested that it terminate in an unusual way ------ contact Roxio support.
I've turned off all virus scanners, Internet Security and so forth and it still dies. I've even told it only to install the the Easy CD and DVD burner software (telling it not to install the 6 or 7 other things) and it still crashes. After the crash, there is a Roxio menu in the "Programs" menu and a listing of applications, but all the applications don't work and non of them have icons which means the programs were never installed. I've never seen this happen with a software installation program. Normally they at least install and then go belly-up when you try and execute the program. I can't seem to find an install log that might shed some light on what's happening. Does the install create a log?
I'm beginning to think I've made a big mistake buying this software. I left this same question on the Roxio Support center on Wednesday (3/21/07) and haven't heard squat from them. If a company won't supply support for what they sell, they won't be in business for the long haul.
I'm not a computer novice. I'm the "go to" guy for computer problems at my company and everyone in my extended family (very large) comes to me for recommendaion on what to buy (in both hardware and software). Looks like Roxio is going off the recommended list.
Help - What can I do to make this !@#$%^ thing install?

Strange problem
What I'd suggest you try is to uninstall both v7 and also whatever of 9 that has installed, then run a registtry cleaner and remove all Roxio and Sonic entries and try re-installing again

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Well, I've completely cleaned the machine of all mention of Roxio or Sonic and have removed all Divx software. I used the Windows cleaner, then Norton's to remove ANYTHING connected to the original installation. I've deleted EVERYTHING that could possibly interfere. Turned off the virus scanner and Internet Security. I then tried to install the software. EXACTLY THE SAME RESULTS. After a VERY long time of coping files, writing to the registry, and only god knows what else, when it says "Installing New Services" the screen goes black like you pushed the RESET button and the machine reboots.
Ugggggg-------!!!!
