Hello all,
I  just finished a clients DVD using EMC8 MyDVD and went to burn it.  I received an error code as it went to the burn mode window. The error code was listed as 80004005.  I did a search for this here and found [1] but was unresolved.  I also did a "Roxanne" hit and could only find help for  the same error code but with a Prefix of either 0x or E in front of the 80004005 for earlier versions.  I installed, also the EMC8 -Hotfix and restarted the application after a reboot and also did NOT help. Please look at the capture screens.  Does anyone have a fix?  My drivers are updated.  I am using a VAIO 2.4 Gz with plenty of external and internal HD space.  I have used this before with no issues burning plain images without attached b/g music.  This time it is urgent to get this completed and wouldn'y ya know..... Here are the screensets:

Uncheck the Burn to Disc box, and only burn to a disc image (ISO) file.  Then use Disc Copier to burn the ISO file to a DVD movie.  That usually works best for most users.

BTW, when burning to an ISO file, give that ISO a name other than the default shown.

Thanks Bruce....I already had tried that,  I don't know why I had both boxes checked when I made the screen shot.  The error comes up the same during the burning of the .iso file renamed and the burn dvd unchecked.  The hotfix did nothing for me and am starting to pull my hair out (What's left!!)  This always seems to happen when I'm down to the wire on a job.  I have gone through all the other posts regarding this code but nothing seemed to help.  Hope there is more info.  Getting late here so hopefully by morning there will be a fix or else a magic spell on my computer  maybe will happen overnight.

I've tried just about everything tonight with this but to no avail.  Thanks again.

I think you stated that you had burned other projects without error. My thought is that there is something in one of the 'movies' that is corrupt. Depending on what you have in each movie, just a video file, multiple ones, transitions, etc., one of those pieces it does not like. You could try making a very small test one with a different piece of video, pictures or whatever, that is similar in style to this one, and see if it will burn to an ISO image. If it will then indeed there is something in this project that's giving you the error that it doesn't like. Then you would need to start picking it apart to see if yu could isolate where it's finding the error, so you know what part you have to remove and rebuild.

This may sound stupid but did you see if the project actually did burn to the disc (play it)?   In the background, the project semed to be at 100% and completed.  I remember some people getting error messages in error..

No, it did not burn the file just a small byte of info that took less than a millisecond to provoke that task bar to look completed and enough to where the disc was no longer usable without erasing.
I did find the problem though that maybe an initial fix for these codes but first off would like to thank all of you for the participation in trying to help me with this.
What I found this morning after reading Larry's post on corrupt files,  I had tediously removed some .wma's that I had compressed and then went to my mp3's that I was using [6] of them, nothing seemed to work.
I finally went into the menu/movie tabs on the left bottom "Program View" of the program and tabbed "Menu"   This showed that I had [2] files with the same name listed.  When I opened the two,  one was blank containing no files or info.   I deleted this and lo & behold, burned perfectly.
One thing that I am VERY disapointed in with this program and may  need to be addressed on a different post is that:  I never had an issue with the smoothness of transition use in EMC7 DVD builder when transitioning to the next image/movie file.  I now have a "Jittery" motion when panning some vertical images and after a transition, the image also jitters.....almost like a small shake especially on a "Zoom out pan" of a vertical image. Another example would be that it's like rapidly incrementing each step back while zooming out. This doesn't happen on any dissolve transition, but does on others. This looks exceptionally bad on the Television as it does on the computer . It also doesn't matter duration time of either the transition or image.  It only happens after and during the transition to the next image.  Any ideas??  Not the graphics card.... as it does work on EMC7 very smoothly.
Thanks again guys.....very well appreciated

Glad to hear you made positive progress and got it to burn for you.
There have been some that suggested opening up the Project Settings, and changing the encoding from Interlaced to Progressive to eliminate 'jitteryness'.

By the description of "jittery"  I thnk I have experienced the same thing.  If Larry's suggestion to change to Progressive encoding does not work AND you are set to hardware mode under Tools\Options, try changing to software mode.  That worked from me.  Unfortunately, however, software mode does not support 3D or page turn transitions and any in the project will be replaced.
