I have a licensed version of every EMC since Adaptec 3.X. What would be the last version that would install and run under Windows 2000 Pro SP2 ?

I think V7.5 may be the last version to run on SP2.According to the System Requirements V8 & 9 need to have SP4 to run.

Actually, after looking in the Knowledge Base it says V7 also needs SP4

Yup that's right. Everything after ECDC 6 requires SP4 on W2K

Thanks to you both. I'll give v.6 a try next week when I get around to reprogramming my system. Setting up as a multi-boot with Win2K, XP and Vista on a 160GB drive with all data files on a separate drive.

Just keep in mind you cannot run V6 on Vista.V9 is the first one that will attempt to run on Vista.

If it runs at all!  Talked to a friend this morning.  He recently bought a Vista loaded computer and HATES it.  I suggested he return it with the reason of having an unacceptable/unusable OS.   laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

I don't have any problems with Vista itself but I there are problems with drivers and applications. It's caused me to re-think the option of migrating to Linux a couple of times.

He probaby doesn't know and wouldn't even be able to answer my questions!  He did say though that he wished he'd shelled out a few more bucks and gone for a Mac.  He said this would be his last Windoze system.  I suggested he get a copy of XP and nuke Vista.

I dual boot between XP and Gentoo Linux. The Linux system is very happy running everything in 64 bit mode, never bsods, never has driver problems. Only reason I keep MS on here is there are a couple of leisure type apps that I just can't get to work (and there's no equivalent unfortunately). I suppose I could run them under VMWare, but I never trusted emulation layers to any great extent
