When recording a DVD by converting an avi file, the audio always gets out of sync. Is this normal and is there a way to fix this?

Secondly is there a way to convert an avi file (ripped from a DVD) back on to a DVD but maintaining the video quality? The avi file though from a DVD always ends up being too large a file when converting back to DVD format?

Can anyone please help and advise me.

Thank you

You might do better with audio sync by breaking your large file into smaller files and then working with them.
Why did you rip a dvd to an avi file? Mpeg would have been better.

Paul thank you for your reply. Truth be told the avi file was an acquired one and not one that I ripped myself. So in effect what you are telling me is that Easy Media Creator with all it's whistle and bells cannot organize audio and video when composing a DVD? If so this program is not worth the money, no?

If it wasn't a good program, I certainly wouldn't be using it! You don't post your system specs so I can't even begin to know what you're working with. Much depends on your system. If you keep it defragged and it's a relatively fast system, you're less likely to have problems with audio sync.
Maybe the 'acquired file' you are working with is bad to begin with. Exactly what type of avi file is this?
