I'm having so much trouble over the months with getting the best DVD quality. I guess I need step by step instructions. I understand creating chapters and menus, it's just the video quality that's the problem.
First off I recorded video in widescreen mode with my Canon Elura 100 and transfered it to Windows Movie Maker for editing. I was told to save it to my computer in .avi format which I did. I did this after the editing was done. Was I supposed to save it in the initial transfer from the tape to WMM? My initial transfer was the recommended setting. I hope I did this right since I spent hours and hours editing my movie. I hope it wasn't all a waste of time becasue I blew the very first step.
Anyway I opened my .avi file in Video Wave. I didn't edit the movie because everything was done in Windows Movie Maker. Is there anything special I should do in Video Wave 9.
Should I change purpose to 'DVD playback' or leave at 'All'?
It will be shown on a widescreen 720p TV. Do I leave video file quality at 'DV format AVI'?
Should I check 'Normalize Audio'?
In the USER DEFINED TEMPLATE should I change 'frame rate', 'frame size' or 'pixel format'?
I don't even know what COMPRESSION is. Should I leave it at 'none'?

I know I have a lot of questions but for a few months now, I have been trying all different things. The video quality on my DVD never matches the original tape playback and sometimes the Audio is out of sync. Someone please take me through the steps I must have made 30 coasters during trial and error processes not to mention wasting time. Thanks.

If you aren't doing any editing, don't use VideoWave. If you just want to burn it to disc, use MyDVD,

Videowave is for EDITING video.
MyDVD is for DVD authoring - creating the menus and burning final to disc.

As Bruce suggested, you need to open MyDVD and then add your DV AVI from WMM.
