I've uninstalled EMC9 due to a number of issues, but before I reinstall I wanted to make sure everything related to ver.9 was deleted. Got rid of everything, I thought. Went into registry and found many references to Roxio and Sonic Solutions [file/folders] I found these ref. in
HKEY_Classes_Root
HKEY_Current_User
                            /software
HKEY_Local_Machine
                             /software
My question is this, should I be deleting all of these items before I reinstall? I have also downloaded Microsoft Cleanup Utility, should I run this through my registry? In need of advice. Thanks

If you're going to do a complete uninstall then yes, going through the registry manually is a good idea.Delete everything that says Roxio or Sonic.Make sure you do a registry backup before you start.
If the uninstall routine does a good job then chances are you won't find an entry in MSICU.It looks for entries that have to do with the Microsoft Install routine. If the uninstall completely removes these then you won't find an entry. If it doesn't then you will. This is what causes the problems, leftover install routine entries.
What I would do is Add/Remove from the Control Panel,Run a registry cleaner (if you have one),try running the MSICU (may not have entries) and then reinstalling. If it won't install then do this again and this time lastly do a manual search of the registry for leftover Roxio and Sonic Entries. There are more than 1 Roxio and Sonic in the Control Panel so make sure you get them all.
