Hello,

As you probably know, the industry of media has split the world in zones to prevent persons to crossboard cultural products and related software/hardware, and it seems I am facing this issue now:

I bought the EMC suite during a business trip in US in January and brought it back with me in France.
I burnt a couple of weeks ago a DVD (with family video) with myDVD, put it in my Zone 2 Dvdplayer (Europe) and guess what : the screen displays - Restricted Playback - which usually happens when I put a Zone 1 (US / Canada) DVD in this player.

As the Roxio support has been mute for 2 weeks on the ticket I opened, I ask now for help on this forum.
Has any of you any suggestion to tune a setting in order to enable DVD creation for one zone or the other ?
Again for those who may feel offended, 1° I bought this software 69$, which is quite a sum (for me at least) 2° I only want to make video DVD with my personal data so I don't hurt anybody's copyrights.

Thanks,
Fred

There are programs on the net that can do this for you but this is not the place for that discussion.  If you do a bit of googling, you should be able to find the info you need.

I don't think that should happen.  I've always thought that home burned DVDs are Region 0 which means they can be played anywhere.

You are correct, Gary.  There should be no Zone issues with most burning software, including Roxio.

Thanks a lot for having taken the time to answer.

My current DVD Player is a Toshiba SD-500 which is 6 years old... this may explain why it would not recognize any other zone than zone 2, even the authorized multizone or zone 0 DVDs...

I will test it with on a friend's recent but not dezoned DVD player and let you know the result.

Are you using DVD+R?  This type of blank has something called book type setting which tells the player the disc is DVDROM.  You would have to check o see if your drive can do that first.  Run Roxio DVD Info Pro. Click the +RW icon.

If I place a Roxio EMC burned disc in Disc Copier.
Then look in my EMC 9 Disc Copy program under tools, Disc and Device Utility. Then click a couple + marks to expand the tree on Disc Properties. At the bottom it shows Region Playback Control 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
I agree with Bruce and the others, these programs burn a Region free disc!

My question did you author the disc in NTSC or PAL?
