I have seen dozens of posts regarding this subject and feel compelled to add my comments...
What we have here is two programs that refuse to coexist on one machine; Roxio 7 and IE7.
Roxio refuses to accept any responsibility and places all the blame on Microsoft. I see this as a cop out.
Roxio obviously knows how to make their programs work with IE7 (e.g., Roxio 9.0); but yet steadfastly refuses to fix 7.0.
What I see is a company that is driven by revenue (solution = buy our upgrade) rather than Customer Service.
Sorry Roxio, Microsoft is a bigger market force than you. You're going to have to follow their lead rather than the other way around.

It was reported today (sorry, don't have the link now) that Symantec 360 stops users from going to many sites such as banks and other financial institutions. In this case, since this program was released AFTER IE6 & 7, it's definitely the fault of Symantec.
EMC7 was released 2 years prior to IE7. I don't see how, even after drinking many beers, Roxio could be blamed for it. Sure, I guess they could go back to Easy Creator 4 too and make it compatible with XP.

Why didn't Microsoft design Internet Explorer 7 so that it didn't 'break' programs already on the market?
This problem isn't exclusive to Roxio. Internet Explorer also broke lots of other programs and even some Internet Service providers programs.
Why do you think Microsoft is so popular with software development companies? Everytime they come out with a new Operating System, you've got to buy new software that will run on their new Operating System..... and Internet Explorer 7 was developed to work with Windows Vista.
There's an easy fix...... just roll back to Internet Explorer 6 if you want to have your existing programs work correctly. Get good firewall, virus protections, spyware, etc. suite and don't depend on Microsoft to secure your computer from hackers.

Actually if you want a fast browser with tabs that also has the advantage of being compliant with the W3C standards, forget IE entirely and get Firefox.

And turn off Microsoft's auto-update. It is entirely possible to go there and check it manually the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
If that's too hard for you, set it to notifiy you when there are updates available.
A friend of mine had it set to download and ask before installing. So the reason his 56k line was going so slow is it shoved down IE 7, WinPlayer 11, and a few other things I don't consider necessary and asked permsision to install.
I suggested going to the download site, and seeing what all it'd downloaded for him. He accepted a security patch, and let the rest go.
