Not all capture cards work well with EMC.  You would likely do better using the capture software that came with the card itself.

You can then use the captured file in EMC 9.

It came installed with Media Center so there is no reason why he can't use the dvr-ms files in Videowave/MyDVD.  Unless he is trying to capture from external VCR.  Guess we need more information on what he is trying to do.

All - Thanks for your responses - I am using a analog camcorder for the input to the capture card.   I used
the Media Center installed version of Sonic MyDVD Plus and recently tried an update to EMC 8.  EMC8 made
things worse with bad audio.  I removed Sonic MyDVD Plus from the hard drive and cannot restore it since
it says it is missing MYDVD.msi file in c:\hp\tmp\src.  This directory is missing as a result of the removal.  It seemed like the correct thing to do at the time to check if EMC8 was being effected by Sonic MyDVD Plus.

I need to contact HP Support to deal with this, unless there is a way around.

I can capture through Windows Movie Player with good results, as was replied to I can then use these
files in EMC8 or 9.  My originial issue was to take analog VHS direct to DVD.  This just doesn't appear to
be ready to do as advertised.  ohmy.gif  Thanks for the input!!!

Yes, MyDVD 9 can burn direct to disc, but Roxio can't support all the hardware on the market.  If your capture card doesn't work, it usually boils down to poor drivers.
