I have not been able to convert vob / mpg files to dixv with the two pass option in disc copier. Usually the file produced is 0 - 40KB and corrupt. Sometimes disc copier will crash after 50%. Single pass and other file types input has worked okay. I had this problem with windows XP and have done a clean install twice after upgrading to Vista and still have the same problem. The log file shows the following:

Application:
Roxio Disc Copier version 8.0 (with Dragon and ROM Technology)

Components:

Operating System:
þÿÿÿ3 ¢w!¢wPersonal (Build 6000)

If someone can post the disccopier9.log file (you may need to turn the logging option on) for a sucessful two pass vob file conversion it might help me.

Any suggestions for trouble shooting this problem ? Roxio has not replied to my web ticket openned March 18th and I've spent many hours trying to resolve it myself. It looks like a problem with the sonic filters loading for the second pass so I would like to see the log file from a good file conversion. Does Roxio support eventually reply after more than two weeks or is it common not to get a reply?

I didn't find anything in the junk filter. I do get the auto reply from the web ticket and when I log in I do not see any replies posted there.

I just checked the web ticket for a reply again. I still have not found a solution.
Please could someone tell me if they can encode vob or mpg files with divx and two pass. The log shows errors when loading filters for the second pass. The same filters loaded properly for the first pass. I don't know if this is the problem or if these errors are normal. I have no problem with avi files but a different set of filters are loaded. No problem with one pass encoding the same vob or mpg files.

I've read posts by some Gurus here that EMC9 works without problems. I would really like to see the log file that shows this feature does work so I can continue trouble shooting the problem I have.

I have to give up on this problem for now as disc copier no longer works. After not trying to use it for a couple weeks disc copier will now freeze randomly when adding files or selecting options before encoding is even started. Another reinstall has not made a difference. I think it might help if I could remove all the registery entries made by EMC before installing again but Roxio support has not provided that information so I can do a proper job safely. I can't justify spending much more time with these problems when all I have to rely on is my own guessing and trial and error.

There are several posts about clean uninstall/clean install. Here is a very good one. You can do trial and error or do a little reading.

There are several posts about clean uninstall/clean install. Here is a very good one. You can do trial and error or do a little reading.

I've spent several nights up till 5am searching for solutions and even used a translation website to read some posts. The last 4 or 5 reinstalls have been the "clean" method you refer to. If I search the registery I still find references to Roxio, Sonic, Mainconcept .... the MS tool does not remove those entries. If there is a complete list of what should be removed from the registery or codecs inatalled by EMC9 I haven't found it and Roxio support has not provided it. I've been testing different files and settings and comparing log files to try and pinpoint the problem. If the solution why two - pass encoding fails can be found with a little reading please show me where. You posted a link to what may have been a useful reply but then felt the need to suggest that I was too lazy to find the answer myself. Well I've tried that solution already several times since the clean install was needed to fix problems with previous versions of EMC and thought Roxio would provide details for this version. My orignal request for a log file went without answer. It would have took a few minutes longer for someone to provide it then to post a link to existing solutions to other problems. If I repeat the 'clean' install again I can't expect different results so the log file I requested here will not help me at this time. I can do my own registery cleaning but without information on how to do a complete and proper job it becomes trial and error and I don't currently have time for that and posted to update the status of the original problem. Please tell me how you know the method you suggest works? Have you used it yourself or was the post just to discredit my efforts in defense of this software? Do a little reading of the posts youself and you will find it isn't 100% removal instructions so I can't be 100% sure I can rule out the problem. I've done a lot of reading on this forum and too often the "guru" reply seems to do little with solving the problem and more to deflect blame away from Roxio and onto the user. The end result is the actual solution to the problem is not posted. Maybe do a little more reading and research before you suggest I haven't done my share.

The MS cleanup utility does not remove any registry entries, it badically just removes the msi installer flags for the programs so that they can be installed again from scratch.

There are instructions in the Roxio Knowledgebase for clean installs that details everything including the registry keys that need to be removed. You can find them here:

Thanks the information posted about the MS utility was misleading for me. The information in the kb is not the detailed list I hoped for. Removal of EMC7 listed several pages of entries. A little bit of searching turns up many more references not included in that kb list for EMC9 and I didn't consider it a complete list of entries especially when it comes to codecs installed. This is why I think it will involve trial and error to remove other entries and determine the effect. No one has yet replied with a log file or other solution to the original problem posted so even if disc copier works again I may still have the same problem. If I'm going to do the clean install procedure again I think I should try to do something different to maybe fix the problem instead of going in circles. I didn't mean to change the topic and should have been more clear on the reinstalls I've done. I posted to update the status of the encoding problem and currently don't have time to work on a solution.
