When I put in a blank lightscibe CD-R normally ,the system doesn't recognize it?
Nothing happens.No menu pops up!

However, when I put the CD in with the gold side up,the menu pops up as if it's working, asking what I want to do?
Is this correct?

Which way is a Lightscribe CD supposed to be installed, with the silver or the gold side up?

When I put in a DVD,everything runs perfectly. No problems at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,Brentski

To burn music, shiney side down.  When complete, turn it over to burn the Lightscribe image.
I'm pretty sure there were instructions that came with the discs so you should really take a closer look there.

Thanks for the link to 'Lightscribe'. Unfortunately it only provides info on printing labels.
Also,There were no instructions that came with the 'Lightscribe' disc.

I need to find out how to copy data to the CD.

Are Lightscribe CD's different than regular ones as far as how they're supposed to be put in? (gold side up or down to write or copy to?)

I'm just not sure which side goes up to write or copy the data  (silver or gold side up?)

( The "lightscribe" instruction- how to print a label on the disc,  is not a priority).

As I asked, am I totally doing things wrong or is there something wrong with the EMC-9?

Than you,Brentski

Have you installed the lightscribe drivers? Apparently Windows Vista has no lightscribe drives in the operating system. Either go to the manufacturer of your burner or check or www.lightscribe.com for drivers. Works for me on my Windows Vista Home Premium system.

Yes they are different in the fact that you can "burn" the label on the label side if you have a Lightscribe capable drive. The "gold" side you keep referring to is the same as any other cd's label side except that you put the label on there using a Lightscribe burner instead of a sticky label or using a marker. So if you don;t have a Lightscribe capable drive, don't waste the money on those discs, as you can't burn on the label side anyway.

You always burn the data to the "shiny' side.
