Roxio Creator Basic not accepting DVD-R

Its the first time I'm using Roxio Creator Basic v9. I'm trying to copy a DVD and it is not accepting my blank DVD-R- am I doing something wrong? It keeps spitting it back out....

I'm not familiar with the Basic version.....what's it telling you when it ejects your disc?

Nothing... just spits it out and then tells me to insert a blank DVDR. thanks so much for trying to help.

Its a lightscribe disc, does that matter? For kicks I tried it both sides up.

You didn't by chance format the disc did you?

I'm not familiar with 9 basic either, but I can tell you that trying to copy the disc by trying to use either side of the disc is not right. The fact that it is a LightScribe disc is not the problem. LightScribe discs are burned like other discs and only on one side. The other side of the disk (label side) is just for use with a drive that can burn LightScribe labels using it's laser abilities. So don't try and copy from the label side. When copying, always place the label side UP. Label side down will never work.

What type of blank DVD discs are you using ? Other than they are dash R (-R).

Using Memorex LightScribe DVD+R media version 1.2 16x 4.7GB

I only tried both sides as a last resort. Cant think of why it wouldn't accept it. I did not format the disc- came straight from the package.

Even tried restarting the computer. I'm running Vista on a HP Pavilion dv9000.

That's a nice computer, but I have my doubts that EMC 9 basic can run all of it's programs when the OS is Vista. There are still programs on EMC 9 deluxe that haven't been certified yet for the Vista OS. Not sure if that could be your problem, but I doubt if the basic version is certified for Vista either.

Thanks, I hope Vista is not the problem as this is software that came preloaded on my computer. Oh well. Thanks for the insight.

There is a "Trial" version of EMC 9 available. You might want to try that and see how you like it. It will be way better than that basic version.
