I've had Vista for a few weeks and everything seems to be stable.  I had to do a clean un-install of EMC9 because it wouldn't run.  It appears many of you are running under Vista with minimal problems.  So, I'm feeling brave and I'm ready to reinstall.

Do you have any advice; is there anything I should do to improve my chances of a successful reinstall?  Do I need to shut down my virus software (Live-One Care)?  And, I notice John's post about a DLA driver.  I don't know what that is, but should I only install that if I run into problems?  Do I need to run the install in Administrator Mode?

The installation program is the one I originally downloaded in November.  Do I need to somehow get an updated version, or is RoxioEMCSuitev9[1].0_efisd_R03.exe the latest version?  Or do I simply need to run the install and then "check for updates" from within the software?

Just so you know, I have a HP Pavilion Core2 Duo Processor E6300, 2G RAM, 300G Hard Drive, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (not very good).  Vista Home Premium.

Of course, I'll set a restore point and run my backup software before starting, just in case...

Thanks,
Dan

I think one of the reasons I've had no trouble is because Vista was a fresh install and I have very few other programs installed.  I think many have had problems installing Vista over XP and, though I have no proof, the people I've spoken to who have done fresh installs have had less problems.
Another suggestion I'd have is to get rid of One Care and get a better virus program such as the free AVG. You can then get other free programs to check for spyware.  I tested One Care and really don't see it as anything but bloatware.  Just my 2 cents.
Let us know how the install goes.

After your install, let the forum know if you are having any problems with a particular program in EMC, and or if everything is running O.K.

I found info on a clean install for Vista on Roxio's support pages.  It worked great.  It actually seems more stable under Vista than it did under XP.

I haven't had any problems with Microsoft's Live One Care.  I'm still in the 90 day free trial, so I might not purchase.  I had a trial of Norton's and I didn't like it.  For some reason, after it did a full system virus scan, my back up software thought all the files we new.  It would do a full back up instead of an incremental update.  This used up way too much space on my external drive.  Since switching to Live1Care, I have not had this problem.  I might try AVG to see if it will mess with my backup.

It wasn't so much of a 'problem' with OneCare but it was slow and bloated.  However, this was on a XP system and not Vista which certainly may make a big difference.  If you're happy with it, stick with it.
