I recently installed EMC9.  When trying to burn discs, I find that EMC doesn't recognize the blank discs in the drives (CD or DVD). I have followed the advice from Roxio tech support installing the filterfix patch, and also drivefixes patch as well.

EMC still doesn't recognize the medium in the drives.  Says "Medium Not Present"

What can I do?

Any advice is helpful.

I run WinXP Home, AVG AntiVirus & Spyware.

Thanks,

jrichar9

I had some prior experience w/ my CD player (Samsung CD-R/RW SW 252S player) a few years back.

Possible causes:
1. Firmware of DVD/CD needs updated
2. Faulty or bad disks (try in another computer to determine if they play or try different Disks)
3. Wrong Format (eg. Trying to record DVD+ w/ a DVD- rated DVD Drive)
4. DVD/CD Lens may be dirty.

Please provide additional computer specs and OP

Open DVDIfo Pro under  EMC 9 tools, with a blank disc in the drive. Then click the info icon on the top. What does it identify, anything?

In device manager find the IDE channel the drive is on usually the secondary. Right click and uninstall the IDE Channel. Close things out and reboot. The pc will reinstall it on the boot.

Is this a patch you applied? If not run it.

I have run the patch in question.  The Device Manager recognizes the CD & DVD drive, but Roxio doesn't.

Thanks to those who responded.  I discovered my DVD RW only uses +R discs.  I was under the impression it took both +R and -R.  That was the problem.  I inserted a +R disc and it was recognized.

Thanks again.   biggrin.gif

When you open DVDInfo Pro it defaults to the drive information screen. If that drive was chosen in the drop down at the bottom. That information was right in front of you on the page. Drive supported read, write. and general features.
