I'm using Easy Media Creator 9 software on 32-bit production version of Vista with my BitDefender Internet Security software turned off. Excuse the long winded symptom description. If you are in a hurry read the last couple of short paragraphs.

A DVD+RW disc that was closed in Roxio 9 in XP Pro on same pc causes BSOD when inserted into drive in Vista even after DLA driver patch (d2d32_90_905) was applied.

No problems at all after inserting CD+R recorded in XP Pro with Nero 6 as Read-Only into Vista drive. Only used Vista Explorer. Did not try any Roxio functions other than Drag-To-Disc Disc Info on it.

Tried to read closed CD+R burned in XP Pro on other pc with Roxio Creator 7.5 and with Drag-To-Disc off in either DVD+RW drive in Vista and again got BSOD.

Inserted blank CD+R disc in DVD+RW drive and got BSOD in Vista.

Inserted Adobe Photoshop CS2 install disc in DVD+RW in Vista. No problems.

Did uninstall/clean install. New clean install would not take CD key. I had to use KB0016CR emc9rmv.zip patch to get it to accept key. Rebooted after successful install to test.

Several applications seemed to work, or at least start up, but Creator Classic would freeze and shut down itself right after starting up. This was all with BitDefender software down and Microsoft firewall running.

I was able to then use the Disc Copier on a CD+R disc successfully. I was also able to then take out and reinsert that disc and read files from it fine. I then inserted a DVD+RW that had been written to by some version of EMC and immediately got BSOD crash. Now inserting the previous trouble free CD+R from the Disc Copier session causes BSOD crashes too.

Restarted pc. The few EMC apps I tried all appeared to work except for Creator Classic which would crash only itself. However, inserting any non-stamped disc would BSOD crash my pc.

Ended up playing the msconfig.exe game only to find that it was my BitDefender Virus Sheild Windows service that gets started even when I do not have BitDefender auto-started upon Vista startup that
was interacting with EMC 9 to cause the BSOD's upon disc insertion. So let the finger pointing begin. Roxio: "It's BitDefender's fault". BitDefender:"No, it's Roxio's fault". Everybody: "It's your problem".

I'm just hoping from this post somebody can help me figure out how to use two pieces of software I have already paid good money for together.

Thanks.
