Drag to Disk is installed as a separate program in EMC9. Do you show that it's installed? If so, uninstall it, reboot and see if you still have the error.

If your version came preinstalled on your HP, it's an OEM version and it's a bit different than the full version.
Are you sure your version has Drag to Disk installed? If it does and you don't plan on using it, try uninstalling it from the control panel, reboot and see how things go. I don't have the OEM version so I'm not familiar with what it has and doesn't have and there are different OEM versions from many computer manufacturers.

As I know, Vista has it's own UDF-writer (also writen by Roxio) and for that, there is no need or better no chance to install a second UDF-writer like D2D.
On one system its only allowed to have one UDF-writer.
XP itself only could read UDF. Vista can read and write UDF.

thought id bump this tread up as im having a bad time with this whole D2D thing
after hours of research im still getting the classic DLA pop up on startup.
heres my current situation, i hope you dont mind me sharing...
after the initial pop up, i uninstalled all roxio/sonic products using the add/remove programs feature on windows. no avail.
i then got hold of Dell patch which i was thankful for!
but, after its installed it tells you to restart. which is fine. but it never boots! it goes past the opening "DELL" screen then goes black with the only the mouse cursor on the screen. it appears to just stop loading the rest of the OS.
so from there i went into safe mode, system restored, then done a few other things like removing it in safe mode, but still no joy.
i only found one other guy through my research whos had the same problem on a random forum.
soooo, i was just wondering if goes know anything?
i like to think of myself as a competent pc user, but in realtiy i dont know where to start when it comes to registry changes and so forth.
much help would be greatly appreciated

Have you read the post pinned to the top of this page by John at Roxio about this subject?
When I first installed D2D in Vista I got that "This driver is blocked due to compatability issues" error message. I used the link John supplied and downloaded the 32-bit patch. I ran that and restarted, and it has been going fine ever since.
I don't know what the Dell patch is supposed to do, but it obviously isn't working if you can't restart afterwards. I would imagine that you would need to have the software installed to be able to patch it.
If the software is still installed, perhaps it might be worth trying the Roxio patch.

Brendon

thanks for the reply! its much appreciated.
i have tried to run the 32 bit patch but i get...
Software not found
Drag to disc 32 could not be found.
it then ends there.
i have appearded to have removed the program completely but still get the message.
if i was obtain "roxio media creator 9" and install it (assuming i can) then apply the patch, could that solve my problem?
Regards,
Adam

I will need to know what Roxio/Sonic software you did have installed (name and version) so I have an idea what to look for. And am I right to presume you're running in Vista?
If that's the case, we need to find the driver and remove it. The driver is most likely to be in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, and if you let me see a list of files you have in that folder I might be able to pick it.
The list will be big, so I'll get you to email it to me rather than post it here. I'll send you a PM [click on the 'New Messages' area at the top right of this page to receive it] with an email address where the list should be sent.
How to get the list of drivers? I'll post that here since it's Vista, and therefore unnecessarily complicated
(1) Go to Computer, and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
(2) right click on that file and run it as Administrator
(3) you'll be in a Cmd window, type CD drivers <enter>
(4) now type DIR > c:\DRIVERS.TXT <enter>
(5) type EXIT <enter> or click the red x to close the cmd box.
You'll now have a file called DRIVERS.TXT in C: and that's the file I need to see.

Brendon

ScubaSteve,
You Have Vista Ultimate, and you too bought Media Center 9 a couple of days ago and are getting a DLA not compatible error?
You've run the 32-bit patch, but get 'Software not found - Download Drag-To-Disc 32 Vista and try again' ??
If that is not the EXACT situation you're in, please tell me what YOUR position is; what OS you're running; what Roxio/Sonic software you've had installed; and what error you're seeing now.

Brendon

I too have Vista and the same situation as ScubaSteve. Only I purchased Media Center 10 after having 7.5. with hopes of eliminating the problem. Why is not Microsoft or Roxio/Sonic doing something about this problem, which I now know seems to have been an issue for many months now. I sure will try whatever your suggest, will send you the file mentioned above - if you send me your email address. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Scubasteve attached a post to the end of this topic claiming he had the same problem as the original poster. I'm still trying to find out exactly what Scubasteve's problem is, and there's really no room on this topic for yet another poster who may only have a similar [not identical] problem.
If you have a problem with Media Center 10 or some early version of Drag-to-Disc, please post details in a new topic in the appropriate forum.
Thanks lots,
Brendon
