When I try to set a new button image I get the error message "invalid graph state -56017".
When I try to edit a movie it first shows a progress window saying "building preview display" then the program crashes and I get the windows message "MyDVD has encountered a problem and needs to shut down".
I do not know if there is any connection but these two errors started showing up after I installed a second monitor and an external (USB) harddrive. Both are disconnected now and I still have the problem.
I have just ordered MyDVD 9 so maybe this will all be moot in a few days.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Dan

Have you installed anything else lately, like updates from MS (like IE 7 or WMP 11)?When I try to edit a movie it first shows a progress window saying "building preview display" then the program crashes and I get the windows message "MyDVD has encountered a problem and needs to shut down".

Have you tried to do a repaier on the install thru Add/Remove programs?
MyDVD 9 may not be the answer to your problems. It's a much different version than the MyDVD 6's and earlier, and requires a more powerful pc.

Thanks Larry,
Yes to all three (IE 7, WMP 11 and reinstalled via repair Add/Remove programs). Problem still there.
Only other programs installed were CCleaner and TypeFaster. But the problem showed up prior to those installs, I think.
Think I have enough computer to run ver. 9.
Dell Dimension 8300
Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHZ
512MB ram
128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800
XP SP2 prof. with latest updates
You say Ver. 9 is much different. Will my projects created with Ver. 6 be compatible?

I would try uninstalling IE 7 and rolling back to IE 6 first since IE 7 has cause many programs not to work correctly (including pretty much all of the pre v9 Roxio Sonic line).Yes to all three (IE 7, WMP 11 and reinstalled via repair Add/Remove programs). Problem still there.

The v 6 projects can be imported by v 9 (not opened directly), but it will only retain some of the project, like the movie titles and chapter marks. It will create new buttons and a theme to use.

I have the same problem as was mentioned earlier in this thread
I have not downloaded IE 7 or any new programs
I also tried repairing the program through add/remove programs, but the problem still exists
