smile.gif Just burned a full BDMV project with DVDit Pro HD and tested it out on the PS3 and it works perfectly (had 1 main menu, 2 submenus [chapters] with motion buttons as well as motion background) and all functions worked perfectly on the PS3. I also played the same disc on the Sony BDPS-1 and on my computer with Power DVD Ultra with the same results. Will try it on the Samsung BDP 1200 when I get a chance to go out to Circuit City. Congrats to Roxio/Sonic!! PM SS Scott for the fix.[b]

Congratulations!  What was the fix?  I still can't get mine to work correctly.  It plays on the samsung, but was jittery (probably one of my settings) but can't see menu on Power DVD (with audio), and it won't run on my PS3.. I hope you guys can tell me what I am doing wrong, believe me, I am OPEN for any ideas.  I have done video for years using Vegas and DVDarch, but since Sony won't support blu-ray burning (unless you have $50k), I have turned to this program.  I don't mind telling you, I am a little lost, but as I figure things out, I will post.

If you look at my other posts, I was wrong about my audio file size.  I had a 19mg wav file for a menu, instead of 19g.  I don't understand how the audio file can make a difference, but it does.

Anyway, it looks like you are the first to acomplish what I want to, to simply create a disk that will play across a range of players.  What is use to blu-ray a wedding in you don't have a clue if the client will have the correct machine to play it?  I'm not blaming Roxio, but I am curious what your fix was.......

Please tell me guys.

How does a software fix for DVDit make the PS3 playback these discs?
Does this mean that it was not a SONy PS3 firmware issue to start with?

I would be curious about that also - just one file - only 444KB - montecarlo.objects.dll and abracadabra! we are up and running. I have asked Scott that same question but haven't received an answer yet. It sounds like some sort of "flag" that Sony and  Samsung were looking for  has been added. I suspect, after looking at my original email from Scott with the fix that this came from Sonic Scenarist group - after all - BDMV's produced with that software have been able to play in all of the current blu-ray players - PS3 and otherwise. It does sort of make sense that, especially when dealing with a monolithic company like Sony that it would behoove the software maker to try to adapt especially in this case since it seemed to be a minor tweek (the size of the old and new montecarlo.object file stayed the same). It is sort of the old mountain to Mohammed or Mohammed to the montain scenario.

DVDit Pro HD, by trying to adapt it's software to a changing market does fill quite a void since, in the foreseeable future (unless a big "surprise" is announced at NAB) our only other choices cost 35 to 50 K with several K a year for support. We don't know yet if Adobe will do the same thing with their new product but it doesn't sound like it will be a standalone software but incorporated in an entire suite.

After installing Scott's fix, I re-burned one of my BD-RE's and it played perfectly on our PS3.  Great job, Scott and the rest of the Roxio team.

It's a bit dissapointing to find out that it was perhaps hidden from us- or at least it was an oversight. There I was blaming the SONY firmware  unsure.gif

Neverless, great news, lets hope it kick starts more interest.

So- with this fix, do you just need to rebuild the volume to get it to work or do you need to re author the whole thing? Looks like Tim just burned the existing project again?

wasn't being hidden from you all mark, was just a matter of figuring out how PS3 was differing in their interpretation of the spec from the other players.  took us a little while.  Glad to see people are having success.

I hope this "interpretation" is not a problem in the future with other players!  smile.gif

Scott - Do you think this same sort of issue is going on with the Samsung BDP 1200? Anyone else able to playback DVDit Pro HD projects on this player (I can't)

I don't know.  I have heard some reports of success on BD1200.   Could be different media.  BD-R instead of BD-RE.  Different brands.  I don't know yet.

Anyway, I think Samsung is our only hole right now.

I tried it with a new Sony BD-RE (first burn) and an Imation BD-R (the new inkjet printable) with the same negative result. You have analyzed my video files and declared them "blu-ray compliant" so I don't think there is a problem on that end. Hate to think that every time a new player is released that they will adhere to a slightly different interpretation of the blu-ray specs with problematic results. Even within the same company there are differences (Sony BDPS-1 with firmware upgrade vs PS3 v.1.6).

It works for me too, but very jerky video. Here's what I'm doing.

I'm working with final cut pro in the HDV 1080i60 format.

I export a quicktime movie from the timeline. (this is a final cut pro quicktime movie)

Then I open that file in quicktime and make a "quicktime to quicktime movie" file in h264 full 1920x1080i resolution.

That file downloads into DVDit Pro HD just fine, but when played back in PS3 It's very jerky and low resolution.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

yo're importing an h.264 movie into DVDit Pro HD and it's accepting it OK?
does it re-encode it?

what container is the h.264 file? - is it .mov?
Maff

I found the problem.
I output the timeline using "compressor" in Final Cut Pro" There is a output selection for HD to mpeg2.  I never used it because I was editing with HDV.  When you select that preference, you notice that you can select HDV.
My problem has been solved and the video quality is spectacular.

Thanks!

Would the firmware 1.7 work for the Australian model? I think that's European version or is it Asian or something?
