I bought emc 9 suite at the store, installed it on my computer, entered the cd-key, and all seemed well.
then i restarted my computer...
it took almost 10 minutes to completely shutdown for the restart
it took half an hour to get to the desktop from starting it up
then my xp theme was gone and my taskbar was gray and nothing more than a decoration
none of the diagnostics programs i have would even open
anything i could have used to fix the problem was completely unresponsive
and to top it off, the only way i could do a system restore was in a command prompt safe mode
we all know the system requirements, i have:
windows xp sp2
1024mb ram on dual channel
intel p4 2.4ghz oc'd @ 2.9ghz
a 160g hard drive that is over half empty
and my video card is a radeon x1300 with 512 mb ram on it
I paid for a program that can supposedly convert file types, edit videos, and write dvd's that i can play in most stand alone dvd players, so far all it has done is anger me to no end and turn my computer into a doorstop every time i try to install it.
I would like to know what i am missing to make this work the way it's supposed to. what do i need to do? someone please help me.....the command prompt safe mode was a bit over my head, i had someone walk me through it.
thank you to anyone who has a suggestion

What other similar programs did you have installed you your system. There might be a conflict with another program.

Be sure to run a complete virus scan as well as 2 different spyware scans just in case!

"...the command prompt safe mode was a bit over my head"
I assume you did get into Safe Mode. (clicking on the F8 key as the computer boots). I suggest you need to remove the program in Safe Mode and then make sure your computer is running correctly FIRST, before you try and install EMC 9 again. If your computer is not running right to begin with, there's no use trying to install any program. Once in Safe Mode, go to the Control Panel and click on "Add/Remove Programs". You will get a screen that shows all of the programs installed on your computer. Cursor down to Roxio EMC 9 and then click on "Remove". After that reboot and see if your computer is running like it should. If so, then try re-installing EMC 9 again.
