Using:
Toast Lite on a PowerBook G4 Mac

When I open Toast and drop in the files I'd like to record, the program says that the tray is open but it is not. The blank DVD is in the drive and the tray is closed. When I hit the button that says "close tray" it doesn't fix the problem.
I did not have this problem the last time I used it.

Any thoughts?

Becky, this is a new design for the web board so it may be a bit confusing if you were using the old design.  Please post this message in the Toast Bord further down the main page.  You are posting in EMC 8 board (pc).  :)

I'm guessing you have more than one drive connected to your Powerbook. You mention the tray being closed although there is no tray on the Powerbook's drive. Toast always thinks the slot-loading drive on a Powerbook is open (because there is no tray) but just ignore that because it still sees the disc. If I'm correct in my assumption that you have two drives, the solution is to click the name of the drive at the bottom of the Toast window. This will cause Toast to search for any other connected drive. When it shows the name of the external drive you are using it will see the disc and will know the tray is closed. You also can choose the drive that Toast will write to in the Recorder Settings window.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
