I have two DVD burners on my system. One is a Memorex 16X-DDL-IN the other is a Memorex DVD+/-RW X1
I am running Windows 2000 SP4 528meg Ram.
I have both Easy Creator 6 and 9. I started out with 6 and the X1 drive everything was ok for a while then the problem began. I can burn CDs and DVDs I can read the CDs I burn. When I try to read a DVD I have burnt (either data or video) I get an Incorrect Function error. I originally thought the drive was bad so I replaced it. then I upgraded to 9 the problem is still the same. I can however read a DVD that i buy! the problem is burned DVDs. The oned I burn can be read on other machines.
My virus s/w is PC Cillin
One last thing in my event viewer i get a message RSM could not identify the media in drive 0.

If the discs you produce can be read on another machine, there's something odd going on with yours.

What is the exact message you get regarding the incorrect function?
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

G:\ is not available
Incorrect Function

I am the first to admit it's odd since I can put my Street Atlas USA DVD in the drive and read it!.

I had used the DVD mainly for back up so some time elapsed before I notices it had quit reading burned DVDs. It could be related to one of the microsoft updates or something similar.

Does G drive show in system properties, device manager?

If it does, right click and uninstall - then reboot and see if that gets access to it

Its there I misquoted the message
G:\ drive is not accessible
Incorrect function

The only clue I have gotten is from the event viewer Event 116
RSM could not identify the media in drive Drive 0 of library Memorex 16X-DDL-IN. An error was encountered while attempting to read data from the media.

Only thing I can think of here would be to update the driver firmware (it may be that it doesn't recognise the media) or to try a different brand or a lower speed disc and see if that works.

I have seen the same problem a few times now - check http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;315350, the easiest (and so far only) way to fix this is to uninstall Roxio software.

I am quite surprised that an answer for this problem hasn't been found yet, my advice to my customers is to simply remove the Roxio software, this fixes the problem - shame cos I quite like the software but I am unable to recommend it to my customerbase as only about 10% of them have been able to run it.

It is especially bad with HP pc's.

Roxio support - any help would be appreciated!!!!

Your "information" is completely wrong and has absolutely nothing to do with V9. Or V8 or V7 or V6 for that matter!!!

It is only applicable to V3 through V5 which was never intended certified for XP.

I can only hope that other advice you dispense to your clients is more accurate…

You do realize that current HP PC's ship with Roxio software pre-installed? I don't think HP is loading their PC's with crippling software.
