I installed EMC 7.5 and it was not working properly. According to the discussions I had to rollback IE7 to IE 6, install and run Cleanup Util on EMC 7.5, update the Install shield, re-install emc 7.5. After following all this, I have found everything to be working except I cannot burn the dvd from the Burn form. I get the message "Device in Use by another application" and will not allow me to select the "Burn" button. I have turned off the Drag and Drop feature. I do have preload Sonic DMP v7 and Windows MovieMaker 5.1 all from preload on my HP XP Media Edition PC. Also, Windows Media Player is v10.

Can anyone advise?

If the DVD in the drive is formatted (by Drag2Disc), remove the DVD from the drive and carefully put it somewhere else, such as the trashcan. (Altho if it is DVD/RW, you can erase it and use it for things like testing. Never use RW media for anything you want to KEEP.)

Take a BLANK blank, directly out of the package or off the spindle, and put it in the burner drive.

That should fix the problem.

I am using blank unformatted DVD+R dvds. I tried putting a fresh one out of the spindle and another different brand blank unformatted and I still get the "Device is Reserved by another Application" message. I believe I previously stated "Drive in Use" but it is "Device is Reserved".

Thanks,

Disable Drag to Disc by going into msconfig and uncheck the box to the left of it. Apply you change, click OK, then reboot, and see if you have the same problem.

I have no clue what that Sonic application is, but if it includes Sonic DLA, uninstall it.

I disabled Drag and Drop from MSConfig. Rebooted and still have the same "Device is reserved by another Application".

I do not have Sonic DLA but I do have Sonic Digital Media Plus preload version. I also found Muvee AutoProducer preload version in my add/remove programs.
