Give this patch at try. It's under v8 but works for 9 as well.

Ok I installed the patch and rebooted. Now it says "The lower or upper filter register key for CD-Rom was containing incorrect drivers, It has been corrected. You must reboot in order for changes to take effect. Until then you may not be able to access your CD-Rom drives". And also even with the Patch installed even though it now recognizes the drives, I cant copy DVD's it says "Cannot initialize burning engine. Please reinstall software"

Try a repair install of EMC. Not sure why this happens. If after the repair install you still have problems, we'll have to fix the filters.

Ok i'll try that. Also, I have Nero 7 installed on my puter, would that have anything to do with it?

Yes, if you have Nero InCD installed and Roxio Drag to Disc, they will most definitely conflict and the problem you mention is what you will find happens. Most of the regulars on this forum suggest not using any packet writing application like those but at the very least, remove 1 of them. Reboot and your upper/lower filter problems should be gone. You may have to run the patch again if Roxio can't find your drives.

If I recall correctly I think Nero has a fix for this on their site. I have been unable to download anything from their site so can't check to see if it works.

There is NO fix anywhere for two packet writing apps to co-exist. That's why Drag to Disc is never installed on Vista (Vista uses its own packet-writing system)
In fact, both Drag to Disc and InCD have been dropped from the latest versions of both

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
