Bought a HP Pavilion with Roxio already installed with Vista Home Premium...I cannot get this Roxio thing to even open. When I do click on it I get a screen that says it has stopped working...(it never even started, so how can the dang thing stop) it also gives choices to eiother search for a solution online and close theprogram or close the program. Of course I choose to search for a solution...and nothing happens AT ALL@

Below is listed the exact wording of the description..anyone with ideas or have delt with the same problem with good results...meaning the dang program finally worked. So far I am so not impressed with this program or the company........can anyone restore my faith in this company or program?

If you bort it new then take it back to the retailer and ask them to fix it?, get them to show you it working?, other wise if you have the EMC 9 disks, then un-install it though the add & remove programes, reboot and install again? see if that fix's the issue?
also read the pinned posts at the top of this forum over EMC9 and Vista?

also? why do you automaticly think its a Roxio EMC9 fault?, HP put lots of OEM pre-installed rubbish on there systems (so do all the others to rolleyes.gif ) and it could be anything causing this?, antivirus? , drivers?

* has your HP got a Nvidia card in it?, as there is driver issues and vista issues over that?
* Have you got the DLA driver installed from the pinned part of the forum?
* have you removed D2D from your system (it's in the add & remove programes) (as this is not vista working)

Hope these give you ideas over what to do?
good luck

Ok, I have no idea what you are talking aout DLA, Nvdia etc......I just bought the computer and everything and I mean everything else works so naturally I assumed sine ROXIO was the only program that did not work, then it had to be a problem with it.....I truly don't get what else you mean...why should I be removing anything from the computer at all..shouldn't it work like everything else?

Yes I ahve been reading through the other posts and I do notice quite a few people are have difficulty with ROXIO Creator 9......I contacted Microsoft and HP both sent me to ROXIO...why is so unusal to check here...?

Not everyone knows all teh computer lingo you seem to know...I simply tried to explain my problem in the simplest terms possible including copying the actuall informational details listed...which I have no idea what it means.

Maybe I made a mistake by coming to this wensite/discussion board.......I don't know at this point....

I would appreciate it if any of the information from the detailed description means anything to you that would help eliminate my problem and explained in simple terms that would be great.

If you siomply want to defend ROXIO than please do not respond......I am looking for answers....not a supporter of ROXIO because at this point I don't care if you support ROXIO...if things have worked well for you that's great...they are not for me and I am trying to get some help.

I will list below my operating system information if that will help someone to HELP me with the problem I am having with ROXIO.

Thanks

firstly calm down a bit... no ones snapping or picking on you.
We are not Roxio supporters or Roxio staff here, we are just users like you, and in fact Roxio staff rarely venture here to these boards, so users here that have experience will try to help you if you will let them.

i now understand that you want this in plain non tech talk and ill try to keep it that way, and id say HP have stuffed up on there software install before you got the computer box.

Of course if you call HP or Microsoft they are going to deny there is an issue with there system and send you here, but if you bort it from a PC shop ect , then leave Microsoft and HP out of it, take it back to the people you got it from , ask them to fix the issue since it came with that issue..., if you cannot get that sorted that way then you are going to have to do some computer software playing to sort it

only you can decide that, but i can tell you that Microsoft and HP will not help you as they are really only interested in the PC sale, after that you are on your own, even if you log a support ticket with roxio on there support page , it can take weeks to get a resolve.

i think in your current setup , id still recommend the take back to retailer and ask them to sort it would be the best effort, as the next step for you would be a lot on installing and un-installing and this will be a longer thing for you to work though.

I'm a liker of there products but I'm not a preacher here on it, in my comment, it was only aimed at explaining that there are always other outside factors that can cause issues on products, but as you are not interested in that then ill leave it there.

Look forward to your reply.... please take a breath over this and lets try to make moves forward

Alright, I'm calm....now I cannot take it back to the store has it has gone out of business.......now what do you suggest? Did any of the detail on the APP CRASH mean anything to you or anyone else...what does it mean? WHat do you mean HP has stuffed up on their software? What does OEM mean?

I really think it is a problem with Vista and Roxio...I think that only because after reading several other discussions here I learned that it is not just HP...at least it appears that way from the many reports I found here that there is at least some conflict ...problem with it.

Now do you understand any of the detailed stuff....does it explain the crash?

Oh and yes I was insulted from the first reply ohmy.gif ......I had no idea what you were talking about at all.

Now I am breathing...I hope someone here can give me some sort idea as to what happened....oh and why would I need a disc of Roxio? SInce it came preinstalled would I be able to get one or would I have to pay for what I already have on the PC to get it to work..any ideas?

No disc came with any of the other stuff loaded on the PC why would a disc come for Roxio...that would seem strange to me...

anyways...hope someone can help me

thanks

All Neil is saying is that as you bought the machine with the stuff pre-installed, it's something that was set up before you got it that is the problem

As it's a HP box, then you will have to contact them - obviously something that has been installed is clashing with EMC - what, none of us can say really, but as it's an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version and not the full EMC9 supplied by Roxio to customers, HP are responsible for any problems caused.

You should have got various CDs and DVDs with the new computer - for restoration purposes and if those are missing, HP are thew only ones who would be able to help
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Hi, I'm Carlos and I work in a HP Call Center for Latinamerica. We have found this issue for some HP and Compaq notebooks and PCs. It doesn't matter the model, this issue could be in any computer with the pre-installated software (Roxio Basic Creator).

They are telling you the right thing, you should contact HP to correct this issue. Unfortunately, we haven't found the solution (or document) at this time. I'm here to find the solution like you, but there's no answer at this time.

I own a HP Pavilion dv2225la, and there's no problem with Roxio Basic Creator. But I've had some calls with the problem and the same PC I own. I think you should wait for the solution, the engineering and design staff are working to provide the solution as soon as possible. As they have said, it could be a compatibility issue with a driver or software.

Please contact HP to find the solution. Roxio just provides the software, HP modifies every program to fit the computer needs.

Carlos - very many thanks for that post - it's great to see someone actually saying that it isn't all Roxio's fault for a change laugh.gif

Muchas gracias y vaya con Dios

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem with the message 'Roxio Creator has stopped working'. I am running Vista Home, EMC 9, on Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook with 1.5 Gb RAM, 120 Gb HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 Ghz, ATI X1400 graphics card with 256Mb hypermemory. I did have the Dell OEM version of EMC, but I completely reformatted the HD (to remove all the pre-installed junk), re-installed Vista and added the full version of EMC 9, (I also have Nero 7 Ultra installed). Everything else works fine. I have all Vista drivers up to date that I am aware of.

I get the error when I click on Roxio Home, Record Now Audio, Record Now Copy, Record Now Data (the common denominator is any program that uses the Central33.exe as its 'starting point'.)

I have found a few hits on the web relating to the Central33.exe program giving issues with Vista - this is exactly the same issue I am experiencing. (I also have an XP notebook that runs both EMC 9 and Nero 7 fine). I tried registering modules msxml3.dll and msxml4.dll as is mentioned on some of the resolutions to the Central33.exe issue. I have also tried the complete clean uninstall and reinstall of EMC 9 (disabling Kaspersky Internet Security throughout the process), removing all Roxio/Sonic registry entries/folders etc.

I did find another user who posted in this forum, who was experiencing the same problem as myself, and he thinks it may be related to having a dual core processor? My XP notebook that works flawlessly is a single core centrino 1.4 Ghz processor.

Any ideas?

Did you remove InCD before installing EMC9?

Any packet writing software will cause problems if another is installed

Is InCD part of Nero 7? If it is, then I did not remove Nero 7 prior to uninstall/reinstall of EMC 9. Will I be able to reinstall Nero 7 after EMC 9 has been reinstalled or is it that you can't have Nero 7 and EMC 9 on the same PC? I have them both running fine on my XP notebook.

Thanks.

InCD is the packet writing part of Nero.

Basically, two packet writing programs can't co-exist so one has to go. In fact, I'd remove any packet writing app from any suite (imo they're as reliable as an igloo on the Equator when it comes to doing backups).

Check in Add Remove programs on Nero, remove InCD if that's possible (on a repair/modify command) and when you install EMC, go back to Add/Remove and take out Drag to Disc (Roxio's packet-writing s/w)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Not really a problem - I just told him basically to dump ALL packet writing s/w and try again tongue.gif

Neither, you, I nor anyone else would know what the poster did or didn't install really

I have done the update and nothing still....

Since being deployed I cannot uninstall then reinstall the program.

The crazy part of mine is it works flawlessly while on the internet..

When not on the internet it states that it has stopped working..

What the heck would cause that???

I get this same error but only when using 'Copy DVD Movie'. Everything is fine as I browse to my DVD folder and select the videoTS folder I want to burn. As soon as I do that, I get the 'Roxio Creator has stopped working' error. Other parts of the program seem to work fine. It's not the video files themselves as it doesn't matter which ones I select - they all do it.

Now, I should note this happens in Vista 32-bit Home Premium. I have a 2nd hard drive with XP Pro (actually morphed up to Media Center). I have Roxio 9 installed there (same version as in Vista), and of course it's using all the same hardware (video, sound, etc), and all video files will burn just fine there.

Where it seems to die is once you select your files, the browse window closes, and it displays a little thumbnail of the video on the bottom left side of the Copy DVD Movie window. For some reason, it dies right before doing that in Vista, but goes right to it in XP. Anyone have thoughts as to why?

System consists of:
Pentiium D 830 Dual Core CPU @ 3gHz
2GB 667mHz DDR Dual Channel RAM
Verto GeForce 7600GS 512MB PCI - Express video card
250GB WD SATA Hard Drive
Creative Labs Audigy Sound Card using the Kx Project Drivers in both XP and Vista

Only other difference would be the XP install is on a regular old 80GB IDE hard drive.

I do have and have applied the SLA patch as well, and for some reason, I'm thinking it's been around about that time that this problem developed - it used to work just fine in Vista.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike
