Apparently, Roxio has removed the updates it had posted earlier to its website for Videowave 5 Power Edition.  Seems like it is intentionally sabotaging the software we paid good money for.

I found the June 10, 2004, updates to Roxio's Videowave 5 Power Edition, together with an additional file at sendspace.com

I'd be careful of downloading from non Roxio sites, but you are correct that support for version 5 has ended.

There is an additional update for the cd burning engine which I think works with VW 5 here: http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecdc/software_updates.html

Support for version 5 has not ended; it has been intentionally withdrawn from the product's support website!

There is a big difference between not taking any new calls regarding a particular product and selling an incomplete product which requires installation of needed updates available on your support website . . . and then deleting the very updates which render the product usable!

As for the "trustworthiness" of the downloads from a non-Roxio site, you fail to balance that comment with the reality that there are no downloads available on Roxio's site.  So . . . where is the choice?

Software updates for incomplete software at the time of sale should NEVER be deleted from the manufacturer's support website.  The lack of an available update functions as a "time bomb" that explodes whenever someone logs on following its deletion, and to his or her surprise, the update is gone: vanished!  The software now useless.

If anyone has the updates from when they were originally published, please check them against the posted downloads and let the rest of us know if the downloads are accurate or not.  I certainly have no reason to distrust the downloads (although plenty of reason exists to distrust the manufacturer that deleted the updates from its support website).

Thank you.

You could try contacting Sonic about that - they took down a lot of updates when they bought Roxio's name and software from the company that had been known as Roxio but had bought the name and software for Napster and have since renamed themselves Napster.

Those of us who answer here are people who have aquired and use the products.

Occasionally someone from Roxio/Sonic will drop in - usually on the newer Version boards - and they can be recognized by the Roxio logo by their name.

Actually, per this KB article, technical support has ended for that product. Which only leaves KB articles or this User forum. Yes this is just a User area sponsored by Roxio/Sonic, not a way to contact them. If you have a complaint about their decision to no longer post the updates, you should try contacting them since no one here can help with that.
