Okay, I purchased the retail version of Roxio Easy Media Creator in January 2007.  This version is called 9.0.088.

Recently, I happened to notice that Roxio has proudly announced that Roxio Easy Media Creator is now officially certified by MS to run in Vista.

Now, if you go to the MS web site at the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933305

Move down to Sonic Solutions and you will see the official version approved by Microsoft to run in Vista is version is 9.1.45.

So here's the big question, how do all of us who bought a retail version of Roxio Easy Media Creator V9 (called 9.0.088) get an upgrade to version 9.1.45???   I have went on Roxio's site under support and there are still NO updates for version 9!

This doesn't make any sense to me, especially when Roxio must know that those of us who have been running earlier versions of (version 9) that was always supposed to be Vista compatible, have received error messages to one degree or another.

I am a licensed user of Roxio Easy Media Creator V9 and I want to know how to get this latest release.  Please help.  (I thought about downloading the trial version but then I am not positive my product key will work with it--even though you would think it would).  Again, please help.

Since the certification post was just made in the last day or two, I would expect that there will be an update out soon.

As Larry said, the update is due shortly however, your key will NOT work with the trial version (it is a cut down version and not upgradable)

Thank you both for the replies.  Hopefully, Roxio will post the latest version (of version 9!) sometime soon.

How does one determine which version of EMC9 he has? I purchased the box version some time ago and can not locate any information on the box, or the CD as to the version.

It is not the certified version, I would bet.  If you go to Creator Classic as explained in a previous post, here, you will see what build you have.  If it starts with 9.1, then you have the updated version.

Creator classic quits when I try this and Roxio Backup does the same.  The application event log has:
Faulting application RxBackup9.exe, version 9.0.1.27, time stamp 0x44d9c69a, faulting module CPSAboutDlg.dll, version 9.0.1.31, time stamp 0x44db54d3, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00004983, process id 0x1200, application start time 0x01c7924b9977da65.

Anyone know how to fix this?

9.0.1 is the original version - there is a patch due out any time now to update that to 9.1 which is the final Vista Certified version (there were problems with 9.0 after the Vista release caused by a MS update which effectively messed it up)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
