I'm not sure if I got lucky or this is a fix. I am runnung 64 bit Vista ultimate on a dell 8400 deminsion, 3.6Ghz
P4 w/HT, Nvidia 6800 256mb and 3Gig ram. Like all of you I had all the same errors when trying to activate the mpeg2. I run vista with the annoying UAC function turned off. Today I turned back on that annoying UAC function and tried it again and it worked. Then I turned it back off again. For those who dont know, UAC stands for User Account Control.

I sure hope this helps relieve the pressure. I have been watching the EMC9 forum for a while now. And there are a lot of legitimate gripes. It might be easier or at least a little more bearable if someone from roxio would respond to some of the forums with some kind of news or progress report as to the updates or patches. But I guess I wouldn't want to stick my head on a chopping block either.

I'm not running Ultimate 64 but I've had UAC turned off from the get go and never had a problem activating.
As far as patch info, it was posted here.

If you think I've not had any problems with the many versions of EMC that I've used, then Paris Hilton isn't going to jail.  laugh.gif Much of my problems have been user errors and being a guru doesn't make me any less careless.  Knowing your computer and keeping it tuned up helps.  So many of us push too many needless programs on the computer and they do nothing but clog the highway and cause troubles.
Plus, who would take the time to come to a forum just to praise EMC?  Not many do.  We're here to help those with problems. And, we're grateful you posted something that might help others.

Wow, that is an interesting fix.  Has anyone else tried this?  I'm at work now and can't check my system, but will when I get home.

I totally understand. I am the media minister (I create and run all of the multimedia presentations. sermons, music, holiday specials, ect.) at my church, where we use a great piece of presentation software called Media Shout. Its 100x better than power point and the cool thing is you can insert a power point slide or a whole presentation. So you have the best of both with out switching programs. It took months of following the forums, updates, patches, codecs and PC tweeking before I felt confident enough to intergrate the new system at the church. So I am no stranger to the querks of new software.

All that to say this. Any thing worth having is worth working for. So to all with issues. Like a wise man once said, "Be patient, God isn't finished with me yet"  cool.gif . And I'm sure this applies to EMC9. So hang in there.

P.S. While I got your attention, I also have EMC9 on XPMCE, same system 2 harddrives. I get a menu background in My DVD Express and it functions as normal. In My DVD 9 the menu screen is black and when I try to edit it I get an error. The error # is mentioned in other forums but it doesn't relate to or mention my situation. Any thoughts.

After reading a little more about UAC I can tell I run with it on.  I'm not sure why this would affect the activation process but for now I'm just waiting, along with a lot of other folks, for the magic fix that will make the software work.  Version 9.1 will hopefully make this just a bad memory.

Try turning it off and see if it helps. Also, stick to your original post. Bouncing all over posting in multiple places isn't going to help anyone try to help you.

No there is no magic list. As you were told in your other post, this is a user forum, no activation keys are available here.

This topic on this thread has run it's course. Go back to your original one.
