I just purchased my downloadable deluxe version this past Friday and it doesn't work properly either.  I keep getting the activation error that already has a couple of posts on here.  I'm using Vista Home Premium if it matters.

The file name is RoxioEMCDLXv9.05_R04efigsdj.  So my question would be if the 9.1 version is available why was I given an earlier 9.05 version???

Any thoughts on that one guys?

I'm still not sure that it's available to the general public.Tom's post in the announcement area says it's been made available to OEM's and on the Roxio site for download. If you downloaded Friday and got 9.05 I'd be calling support and asking why.
Another thing is if you open Creator Classic and go to help does it say the version is 9.05?It probably does, just wondering.

I believe Microsoft won't certify a release that isn't final, huh ? Otherwise there is something that is going very wrong.

I'm quite upset with Roxio policy. EMC9 is around for more than 6 months now and I'm still waiting for a patch that fix the numerous issues under XP and I don't even speak about Vista. Nero is far more proactive when it comes to release updates than Roxio, that's a fact.

The sheer ineptitude of roxio's PR is really the main issue...

I've been a loyal customer since ECD5 and had probably 2 minor issues with software over the years...each was covered efficiently and was surmountable.

but now - the sheer scale of errors, glitches and problems is beyond a joke...but above it all is the complete silence and beligerance of this company. Yet they are still content with taking peoples money and offering no proper support or even a public statement!

Nowhere on this website - apart from these forums - do you have any inkling about the problems you will encounter if you BUY this software. of course not...who in their right mind would purchase anything whilst you have these catastrophic bugs?

Thankfully I retained my XP machine so I run my projects - albeit much slower than I would like - on that. Its now been 2 months since I upgraded my equipment and re-installed EMC9 but still its not running properly and I can not start projects on it for fear of losing everything when it throws one of its glitches.

I shouldn't be in this position now.

I am sympathetic to their issues with MS.

I am grossly unsympathetic about their support for loyal customers and their lack of even publicly acknowledging the faults.

In the UK we can report companies like this who fail to deliver the goods as described to the authorities who will then ensure that the company has a lengthy and costly review which can end up in court.

so Roxio. What are you going to do for everyone who has paid you their money and has installed this useless software by means of compensation?

AND when will you put a detailed page on this website direct from the home page which tells people of the problems they will encounter with this software until you get it fixed?

I agree. Transparency is paramount but one thing you need to remember is that this is not the same Roxio that you purchased from in the past. This is Sonic/Roxio which is decidedly different than Adaptec/Roxio and I'm not even sure where the whole Napster thing comes into play. Fact is, they have to contend with their parent company and their rules/restrictions. In that vein of thought then we must conclude that it is Sonic that is at fault.

As you are likely aware, this is a user forum which is, at times, visited by Roxio staff but primarily a way for users to help each other.
If you state the problems you're having, maybe you'll get lucky and someone can help.  Since Vista is the new kid on the block, the bad news is, everyone has to play catch up!

*smile* this is true - but as of course you all well know - actually getting a response from roxio in any medium or channel is like blood out of a stone - and that is my main gripe in my posting!

The problem I am stating is the Company and its total disregard for even basic customer service. This even after the months of people berating it on these very forums!

I used to recommend roxio to friends and colleagues...I'm too embarassed now to even talk about projects sometimes as they too have given up on this and moved on to other competitors software and now sneer down on roxio.

If there is a patch by the end of the month and suitable compensation I will stay with roxio. Otherwise I too will seek a refund and take my business and recommendations elsewhere. (and this is a damned sight more than I would do to most other companies!)

by the by - just on the offchance one of the most annoying glitches for me is loading a wav in sound editor then as soon as you try to work on it the whole programme disappears. any thoughts on that one?

I assume we're still talking Vista?  I'll try it when I'm at a Vista system but as far as I can tell, I've not had this problem.  I'm not at the point where I use Vista that often but have done a number of Roxio projects to test it out and so far, for me, it's been good.
What version are you running and was it a fresh install or an upgrade install?

Hey, I already asked that question.   tongue.gif  blink.gif  tongue.gif
I'm curious if this wav works in other parts of EMC such as in Music Disc Creator and Videowave.  Try importing it into each of these and see if you get the same result.

whilst I appreciate you taking the time to be nice I am bemused by those users who reply and try to help who don't actually have vista installed (and this is a "Vista" tagged forum!).

Reading the forum and constantly seeing "well I don't know for sure as I don't (or won't) have vista - but have you done this?) is rather patronising - if you don't have the system and you don't know what you're talking about please just save the bandwidth. If I have a problem with it on XP then I'm sure you will be a godsend but please we're in a Vista forum with Vista problems.

sorry but its been grating on me for some time.

for the record it was a clean install after wiping the trial version which came pre-installed with the machine (oh the fun and games on that night 2 months ago trying to find out why it wouldn't install!)

Well - as you have obviously made up your mind that you know more about what is happening than any of us, there's no point really in continuing this discussion.

What OS any of us run is irrelevant - we DO know the program, how it works, what it works on and its problems (and believe me, we all have had problems)

But - as you're determined to push for a 'refund' there's not much point in saying anything more.

You make vague generalisations about a 'fault', you give no details and we're expected to know what it is you're on about

The logo on the upper right corner of these forum should be changed.
"Roxio.com Support" is misleading.

Another note about Sonic/Roxio forums.
Prior to the purchase of Roxio by Sonic, Sonic had their own forums for their applications.
When the amount of compliants was finally too much, and from lack of moderation, those forums were brought down.

Edit: I don't believe anyone would be complaining if they haven't tried everything to resolve the issues that they were having with the application.

When in doubt, reinstall.
If it installs, it's supported.

What version of Vista are you running and was Vista a fresh install or upgrade?
And, for some questions, I don't think you have to have Vista installed to answer.  Just reading the posts in this forum under the Vista section can be educating and others can certainly pass on what they've already read from the experience of others. Not to say that's the most accurate answer but passing along information is still information that may be useful.  wink.gif
