Is there a way to run credits after creating a slideshow?  Also, is there a way to create a title before a slideshow?

Easily done by adding a color panel to the front of the sldie show and adding text and then adding a color panel at the end of the slide show and adding scrolling text.  Watch the appropriate video. -- second one down.
