Don't blame you for being a bit angry, but there are a multitude of posts here you could have searched out, before your post.

Got Norton or MacAfee? Both can cause this problem, especially Norton's One Button Checkup.

Don't run the One Button Checkup. Disable it from automatically running. I don't use that feature. I run all of the Norton programs separately.

The main program that causes problems is Norton's WinDoctor. I don't have the problem with EMC 9, but I did have that problem with EMC 9 Deluxe, when running WinDoctor and deleting the invalid registry entries.

Thank you for the help I have disabled the use of those programs. This is puzzeling as to why if they only fix odd entries that it affects this software. Why would it create invalid reg entries...

EMC 9 doesn't create invalid entries. Norton just sees them as invalid entries, and I haven't a clue why.

Try AVG free , good app and its free, i know that there are a fair lot of people here that run it, and it plays nice with allmost every programe,

I think the OP was asking about a replacement for One Button Checkup rather than the anti-virus there

I use Ashampoo Winoptimizer myself and that has never caused the problems that have been reported with either Norton or McAfee. It does everything that the Norton Systemworks does with the exception of anti-virus, but couple that with AVG and you should be good to go
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
