I just removed ver 8.0 of Roxio due to its lack of compressing dual layer DVD to single layer.  After removal and reinstall of ver 7.5, I lost access to both CD/DVD drives.  The fix is per MS Knowledge base article 314060 and requires a simple registry edit:

I am starting a new thread with this fix, as I spent 4 hrs of various forum fixes including roxizap and windows cleanup utility and Sonic engine updates before finding this EASY fix.  This knowledge base article really works, so I am hoping this new thread saves someone else the aggravation.  I suspect many will be trashing ver 8.0!!

This is a common occurrence that started after XP came out…

It can occur whenever any burning software is installed or removed.

Thanks for posting.
