Support for OEM versions comes from the supplier - in your case Compaq.
We have no way of knowing what way they modified the program or what parts they included

This is getting old.
Dude, HP, Compaq, Dell, Gateway and all other OEM's do not customize the applications. That is done by Roxio. Roxio doesn't say "OK, here's the master program, you code it however you want to !". !! C'mon ! You know better than this ! The OEM's ask Sonic/Roxio what they have available and how much if anything a million copies are going to run. Roxio says "Well we'll sell you these light versions in hopes that your customers will opt for the full upgrade after they register and receive 20~30 emails with our special pricing" . Heck if Roxio gets paid at all they they're way ahead of the game. Rumor has it that every system that ships with AOL kicks back $10 to the OEM whether the customer uses that software or not. The same for Corel (Jasc) products.
