Conflict MyDVD 9 Studio & Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 optical drives go missing

I have been using Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.0 to backup data to DVD for years without any problems.
I upgraded my DVD authoring software to MyDVD 9 Studio last week.
Today both Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.0 & MyDVD 9 Studio could not find my optical drives.
I uninstalled both.
If just one or the other is installed I do not have any problems.
I want to have both on the same machine & working.
HELP!

Drag to Disc cannot co-exist with any other packet program be it an earlier version of D2D, Direct CD, Sonic DLA or Nero InCD. Remove it from either the earlier version or EMC9 (it has to be installed first, then removed separately) and you should be in business.
There's also a patch in the EMC9 General Discussion forum for unrecognized drives that might help too. It won't help make 2 packet programs work together though.

Hello,
At the moment I only have MyDVD 9 Studio on the machine.
I never use D2D w/ any program.
How would I go about removing just this function from MyDVD 9 befor I re-install 6 again?
thanks for the help!

After months of trying to like it I HATE MyDVD9
I decided to go back to Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.0 because as stated months ago it always worked NO PROBLEM.
Well, now I have a problem.
Before uninstalling 9 in re-installed 6.
Then I uninstalled 9.
Could not boot up........... (error seen only once below)
Uninstalled 6 again & boot up no problem.
Re-installed again & no boot up.
Used restore point w/o 6 or 9 on the machine and everything is working.
BUT, how now can I put 6 back on & use it.
I have no interest in re-installing 9 again.
Here is the error I got weh I pulled 9 off the machine....
"Error 1905. Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic MC01\sonich264dec_dmo.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT-2147220472. Contact your support personal.
This is the file that the restore point process created each time...
MsPMSPSv.exe
Looking for some help please & thanks,

I think I'm having a similar problem. I just uninstalled EMC9, then rebooted, and now both of my optical drives are gone. The internal drive shows up in my BIOS, but not in Windows. My external USB drive does not show up (Found new hardware) even when I plug/unplug the cable.
I've installed every Windows XP update I can find and I'm running Norton WinDoctor now. Device manager tells me there is a problem with the drivers. I wonder if instead it isn't a problem with the Windows optical drive system.
This doesn't sound like a conflict between v6 and 9, since both are gone from my system. It looks to me like v9 took something with it that I still need.
Any ideas?

Just a comment in general about this - EMC 9 takes a lot of hits over this matter, i.e., disappearing drives, but it is not just EMC 9 that has this issue. Many other programs that uses the drive(s) for some purpose also mess with the UpperFilter/Lowerfilter values that results in this same problem/condition. I had it with another program and following instruction in the MS KB article posted in another response, cleared the problem up.

Well, I can see both drives now but I do not have 6 or 9 installed.
I want to install 6 again but if I do I know the system will not boot up & that means restore point again & another copy of MsPMSPSv.exe will be created & still no 6 on the machine?
Any other thoughts?

My reinstall of version 6 has gone very badly. At this time my system will not boot. I've purged the registry of all references to the Roxio software and the boot logs show that XP is not attempting to load any Roxio drivers, but it looks like something else is screwed up. Strange, since I once had version 6 running on this machine.
