Let me preface my questions by saying I truly love the EMC products. I am not here to rant. I have used 7, 7.5, 8 [only barely though] and now EMC9. From trial and error and with a lot of help from this forum I have actually created some DVD's that impress my grandchildren and myself - even though I am a true novice.

At the end of June I am planning on having my computer considerably upgraded [by the same fellow that built this one]. Notwithstanding Grandpa Bruce's admonitions to the contrary I intend to install Vista Ultimate. After doing so and installing an "Office" version as well, it is my intent to install nothing else or hook up no other hardware until I install EMC9.  Hopefully this will allow the ultimate "clean install".

My problem is I have become confused about what EMC version to install.  I did not know until recently that there were other versions such as 9.1.45 [mine is 9.0.088]. My questions:
1) How can one be sure he is installing the latest version of EMC9?
2) In the "News and Announcements" section in early May - John from Roxio suggested that the "Vista Certified" Version was being distributed.  Is that the 9.1.45 version or something else?
3) Is the much anticipated "patch" going to be the 9.1.45 version or an even later version?
4) How does one even tell what version is in the box? I could not ascertain the version of my current product without having the disc loaded. There was nothing on the box that I could find and when I look on line at the version touted by Roxio as "Vista Certified" I can find nothing to suggest the actual version of that product either.
5) Finally, should I purchase the 32bit version of Vista? Which "bit" version is best with EMC9.

I would appreciate any information and advice you care to give.

An update to help fix changes that MS made to Vista shortly after release that affected EMC9 should be out soon so I'd wait until then if you want to use the latest Vista compatible version.  When is it coming out?  I have no idea but we've been told by John they are working on it and trying hard to release it soon.
I debated on Ultimate 32 or 64 and opted for 32 bit as it's going to be awhile for 64bit drivers to show themselves and I felt I really wasn't going to see the difference in how I use my computer.  I opted to dual boot  XP/Vista Ultimate which you may want to do as well.  It'll be some time before Vista gets it's act together and all the vendors are 100% behind them and XP will be supported for quite some time.
For what it's worth, I have the EMC9 suite working fine on another system and has been since I installed in many months back.

Frank, I actually don't care what you install.  That is your prerogative.  I just hope everything works, so you can create productions from videos of the grandkids.

When in doubt, reinstall.
If it installs, it's supported.

Maybe - bit the link you gave said January laugh.gif

But that's irrelevant - they shoved it back to 2014 anyway
